Free Market Capitalism http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/ Sharing the ideas of liberty, free markets, capitalism, private enterprise and the non aggression principle. en-us Sat, 03 Dec 2022 11:27:03 +0000 Sat, 03 Dec 2022 11:27:03 +0000 Thousands of Arabs & Jews Unite in Peaceful protest Against Illegal Occupation http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/thousands-of-arabs-jews-unite-in-peaceful-protest-against-illegal-occupation Sun, 02 Apr 2017 17:49:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/thousands-of-arabs-jews-unite-in-peaceful-protest-against-illegal-occupation Benjamin Netanyahu recently approved a new Jewish settlement in the Palestinian lands of the West Bank. Something that has not happened for 25 years.

Seemingly missed by the mainstream media, in a display of neighbourly solidarity, over 2,000 local Arabs and Jews united to protest the decision. The protesters could be heard shouting, "Jews and Arabs are not enemies" and "no, to a government of annexation". Both Israeli and Palestinian flags were in abundance during the protest.

This rally shows that not all Jews have adopted the idea of zionism unlike what is commonly taught in the mainstream media, and not all Palestinians are terrorists. This beautiful display of affection of humanity should have made headlines around the world, yet, it did not.

According to Haaretz, the pro-peace organizers said the rally is meant to “protest against the continued Israeli control over the territories and especially East Jerusalem, and in favor of a peaceful solution and justice for both peoples.”

Saturday's march was the first of many planned peaceful protests marking the 50th anniversary of the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands.

Just hours before the march, tragedy struck as a Palestinian man stabbed two young Jews and a police officer before being shot and killed by Israeli police officers in the Palestinian held East Jerusalem.

Jewish occupation of Palestinian lands including the West Bank and East Jerusalem remain the most contentious issue among residents living in those areas.

The West Bank belongs to some 400,000 Jewish settlers and 2.8 million Palestinians. Another 200,000 Jews live in East Jerusalem, which is claimed by the Palestinians, but mostly controlled by the Israeli military.

Following the expansion of the Jewish settlements decision on Thursday, outside the 1967 borders, many world powers condemned their actions as being a major obstacle to the peace process between the two groups.

EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said the new settlement building threatens “to further undermine prospects for a viable two-state solution, which remains the only realistic way to fulfill the aspirations of both sides and achieve just and lasting peace.”

Britain’s Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, warned Israel saying.

“I urge Israel not to take steps such as these, which move us away from our shared goal of peace and security and make it harder to achieve a different relationship between Israel and the Arab world,”

Meanwhile, the French Foreign Ministry “condemned” the Israeli decision calling Netanyahu's move “extremely worrying.” Paris warned that the decision could threaten peace and exacerbate tensions on the ground.

A German government spokesperson asked Tel Aviv to “clarify” its position on how it plans to achieve long-lasting peace with the new expansion.

“Germany will not recognize any change in the 1967 lines, which has not been agreed between the parties,” Haaretz cited the spokesperson as saying.

The UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres expressed disappointment and condemned Israel’s unilateral actions that “threaten peace and undermine the two-state solution.”

Washington, Israel's main ally, did not elaborate, with a White House official only saying that Tel Aviv “made clear that Israel’s intent is to adopt a policy regarding settlement activity that takes President Trump’s concerns into consideration.”

We believe the free market solution to be one that doesn't divide the people but one that makes people free to pursue their own desires in a non-collective but voluntary manner. What that would likely mean is instead of a continually failed 2 state solution, a 1 state solution where all the people of the territory would be governed by 1 government.

This solution would make the government accountable to all the people and not just a favored group of people based on race. All the people could vote for their rulers rather than be ruled by those they cannot elect. Their would not be such a thing as outside settlements. If you want a house, you buy it and live in it just like in most parts of the west.

The reason their is chaos over there is because of the differing view of the land. Zionists believe the land belongs to Jews because several thousand years ago God gave it to them. Non-zionists believe the land belongs to those who have possessed it most recently.

The UN divided the lands in the middle of last century and Israel has expanded those lands quite extensively ever since. Many Palestinians, out of anger and frustration have taken to violence since they don't have an official military, unlike the Israeli IDF

As long as 2 states exist in the area dividing darker skinned Palestinians with lighter skinned Jews, peace will never exist. The only solution we see is for 100% of the people of the lands to be free to determine their future, not just a portion that have a fully functioning government and military.

We hope for peace in order to protect the lives of the Jews and the Palestinians who merely want to live their lives in peace. Perhaps these recent protests will help to awaken those asleep to the ongoing apartheid existing in the region.

Post-BREXIT Currency Manipulation Sank the Pound, not BREXIT, says UKIP Founder http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/brexit-did-not-tank-the-pound-it-was-central-bank-currency-manipulation-said-ukip-founder Sat, 01 Apr 2017 06:16:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/brexit-did-not-tank-the-pound-it-was-central-bank-currency-manipulation-said-ukip-founder UKIP cofounder Godfrey Bloom said the English central bank was responsible for the drop in the pound, not BREXIT.

Speaking on Mises Weekends podcast, he called the Bank of England Governor, Mark Carney an “incompetent buffoon” for taking the drastic actions that he did after the positive BREXIT vote.

“If I was in charge I would send Mark Carney back to Canada”

This in reference to Mark Carney running the bank of Canada before his tenure in England.

Explaining why the Pound fell immediately after BREXIT.

“When the leave campaign won, Mark Carney immediately announced that he would create as much money printing as necessary and he also halved interest rates, and the chancellor of the exchequer said he would tear up and abandon all fiscal targets to pay off the national debt… who wouldn’t sell Sterling under those circumstances. This was panic at the Bank of England, nothing to do with BREXIT.”

Bloom seems to be touching on something that is spreading throughout the world; that central bankers are making a mess of our money and not helping ordinary people. Central control of the money supply is a huge departure from the free market.

Sound money with market driven interest rates is necessary to avoid the wide variations in the frequent booms and busts that we find ourselves enduring. Ultimately caused by failed Keynsian ideas of yesteryear.

We are currently in a massive boom, but we caution our readers because, what’s coming next is not going to be pretty. It will be a massive bust, worse then what we saw in 2008.

One major way to avoid the destruction of your wealth is to pull it outside your countries own manipulated currency and buy gold or even Bitcoin with it. Bitcoin has been on a terror lately, largely due to people around the world wanting to secure and privatize their wealth.

Speaking about NATO and Canada’s role in it, Bloom believes the organization should be ended. It is doing more harm now than good. It served it’s purpose during the Cold War but it’s now driving a wedge between Russia and the west that doesn’t need to exist.

“Nato has moved Canadian troops into Latvia. What on earth Latvia has to do with Canadians is beyond me. Nato is now the threat, it is no longer the shield, it’s a very dangerous concept and its expanding right up to the Russian border”, said Godfrey Bloom.

Bloom is a libertarian politician and businessman and one of the founding members of UKIP and inspirational in the Brexit movement. He is a big promoter of the ideas of liberty and of free market capitalism.

His view is the same as ours, that governments are doing more damage to ordinary citizens then they are doing good. We need limited governments, totally free markets, end the welfare and warfare state and let people spend their money how they feel fit, rather then how their leaders feel fit.

These sorts of ideas would lead to a tremendous amount of economic growth and would absolutely shrink the wage gap between rich and poor since taxes generally only hurt the poor more then anyone else.

Sadly, ideas coming from globalists on the left involve more government and more control of our lives which always means less freedom for individuals, and smaller bank accounts for nearly everyone except the uber rich.

So why hasn't Donald Trump put a stop to illegal wire tapping? http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/so-why-hasnt-donald-trump-put-a-stop-to-illegal-wire-tapping Sun, 26 Mar 2017 01:38:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/so-why-hasnt-donald-trump-put-a-stop-to-illegal-wire-tapping If Donald Trump is so concerned about Obama wire tapping his phone lines, then why hasn't he put to an end the mechanism available to the government from doing it again?

In a recent interview of Edward Snowden (By Jeremy Scahill), he explained the issue in his usual candor...

"If Donald Trump wants to take this seriously, right, he needs to fix the problem that everyone in America’s communications are being collected right now without a warrant, and then going into the bucket. And they’re protected by very lax internal policy regulations, right? And this simply is not enough. If he’s worried about the fact that somebody could have been wiretapping Trump Tower, that this could have happened without a warrant, or even with a warrant, right, the problem is not, oh, you know, poor Donald Trump. You’re the president, right? You should be asking questions about, 'Why was this possible in the first place, and why haven’t I fixed it?'"

Privacy is a requirement for a free society to survive. The longer citizens live with big brother watching their every move, the faster this so-called "free society" will crumble.

Benjamin Franklin said in 1755, "those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

People should be outraged that their government spies on them and records everything they say and do on a daily basis.

Liberty has eroded in the west and there is only a shadow of a free market left. Our money is centrally controlled and manipulated by private banks, half of everyone's wealth is stolen through taxation, every letter we write is being recorded, our phone calls are recorded, even Mark Zuckerberg puts tape over the camera on his laptop in fear of big brother spying on him.

Not until people start waking up to the realization that voting every 4 years won't fix their problems, they will hopefully realize they need to start fixing their own problems and that usually starts by detaching from the establishments way of doing things.

This includes getting out of the stock market and our government manipulated currencies, storing wealth in crypto currencies and even gold, homeschooling our children, ease up on the antibiotics and educate ourselves about natural solutions. And ultimately learn as much as you can. Unschool yourself.

Becoming an entrepreneur is generally the best thing employees can do for themselves. It firstly allows you to deduct from your income, expenses that you otherwise couldn't have done and it allows you to be your own boss and even improve other peoples lives by providing jobs that didn't exist without you.

If you are still an employee you need to do yourself a favor and read "Rich Dad's Cashflow Quadrant" by Robert Kiyosaki. It will help you get yourself out of the rat race.

Stanford Researchers Discover that Less Competition Drives Prices Higher http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/stanford-researchers-discover-that-less-competition-drives-prices-higher Thu, 23 Mar 2017 13:29:43 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/stanford-researchers-discover-that-less-competition-drives-prices-higher Chalk one up for free market capitalism here. You shouldn't really need to do a study to figure this out. It's an obvious.

"Medical practices in less competitive health-care markets charge more for services, according to a study conducted by researchers at the Stanford University School of Medicine and the National Bureau of Economic Research."

The reason most governments that have centralized the health care industries in their countries have virtually outlawed private health care is because they hate competition.

They hate the idea that a private option could show people that better more efficient service could be performed by private groups competing for the same customers.

In Canada, for instance, it is illegal for private groups to compete with government run healthcare. Yet in many regions, like Alberta, wait times are abysmal. Yet, because the govt hates competition, the very people that this healthcare system is supposed to help are being endangered.

A better policy would be to allow private competition if wait times exceed 2 months. Sounds reasonable, however competition would reveal how inefficient govt run (anything) is, so it likely won't happen.

"Instead of continuing to pump money into the same system and hoping for different outcomes, it’s the perfect time for Alberta to look to the private sector to come aboard as a partner or alternative and institute the sort of patient cost-sharing policies commonly found in other universal health-care systems. Done correctly, neither of these policies would fundamentally alter the universal nature of the health-care system. Instead, the private sector would help take some pressure of the government, while the cost-sharing would help temper demand by reminding patients to use these scarce and expensive health-care resources responsibly."

It is immoral to force people to use specific health care. The only moral option is to allow people to be free to use any solution necessary to cure their ailments, this includes allowing doctors to provide services they feel will best help sick people, even if those services are outside the government's options.

16 Fake Stories from Mainstream News Sources Since Trump Won http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/16-fake-news-stories-from-mainstream-sources-since-trump-won Tue, 07 Feb 2017 00:08:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/16-fake-news-stories-from-mainstream-sources-since-trump-won In the era of fake news stories, we have been inundated with a plethora of stories surrounding Donald Trump and his campaign. It's tough to know exactly what is true and what is not anymore.

We're pretty certain fake news has always been around, however we are now in an era where mainstream media has been blaming other news sources reporting fake news at an alarming rate.

When Hillary Clinton lost the election, the mainstream media, could not comprehend so many Americans would support, what they call a "sexist, racist, bigot".

So the blame, as they see it, should fall squarely on the fake news stories that convinced the droves to support this man. The only trouble is, most of the fake news has originated with the mainstream media.

The Federalist has come up with a wonderful list of fake news stories mainstream reporters have run since Trump won the US presidential election.

In case you missed the corrections on any of these, here's the short-list:

1) Early November: Spike in Transgender Suicide Rates

The claim spread far and wide: Guardian writer and editor-at-large of Out Zach Stafford tweeted the rumor, which was retweeted more than 13,000 times before he deleted it. He later posted a tweet explaining why he deleted his original viral tweet; his explanatory tweet was shared a total of seven times. Meanwhile, PinkNews writer Dominic Preston wrote a report on the rumors, which garnered more than 12,000 shares on Facebook.

2) November 22: The Tri-State Election Hacking Conspiracy Theory

Gabriel Sherman posted a bombshell report at New YorkMagazine claiming that “a group of prominent computer scientists and election lawyers” were demanding a recount in three separate states because of “persuasive evidence that [the election] results in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania may have been manipulated or hacked.” The evidence? Apparently, “in Wisconsin, Clinton received 7 percent fewer votes in counties that relied on electronic-voting machines compared with counties that used optical scanners and paper ballots.”

3) December 1: The 27-Cent Foreclosure

At Politico, Lorraine Wellert published a shocking essay claiming that Trump’s pick for secretary of the Treasury, Steve Mnuchin, had overseen a company that “foreclosed on a 90-year-old woman after a 27-cent payment error.” According to Wellert: “After confusion over insurance coverage, a OneWest subsidiary sent [Ossie] Lofton a bill for $423.30. She sent a check for $423. The bank sent another bill, for 30 cents. Lofton, 90, sent a check for three cents. In November 2014, the bank foreclosed.”

4) January 20: Nancy Sinatra’s Complaints about the Inaugural Ball

On the day of Trump’s inauguration, CNN claimed Nancy Sinatra was “not happy” with the fact that the president and first lady’s inaugural dance would be to the tune of Frank Sinatra’s “My Way.” The problem? Nancy Sinatra had never said any such thing. CNN later updated the article without explaining the mistake they had made.

5) January 20: The Nonexistent Climate Change Website ‘Purge’

Also on the day of the inauguration, New York Times writer Coral Davenport published an article on the Times’s website whose headline claimed that the Trump administration had “purged” any “climate change references” from the White House website. Within the article, Davenport acknowledged that the “purge” (or what she also called “online deletions”) was “not unexpected” but rather part of a routine turnover of digital authority between administrations.

6) January 20: The Great MLK Jr. Bust Controversy

On January 20, Time reporter Zeke Miller wrote that a bust of Martin Luther King Jr. had been removed from the White House. This caused a flurry of controversy on social media until Miller issued a correction. As Time put it, Miller had apparently not even asked anyone in the White House if the bust had been removed. He simply assumed it had been because “he had looked for it and had not seen it.”

7) January 20: Betsy DeVos, Grizzly Fighter

During her confirmation hearing, education secretary nominee Betsy DeVos was asked whether schools should be able to have guns on their campuses. As NBC News reported, DeVos felt it was “best left to locales and states to decide.” She pointed out that one school in Wyoming had a fence around it to protect the students from wildlife. “I would imagine,” she said, “that there’s probably a gun in the school to protect from potential grizzlies.”

This was an utterly noncontroversial stance to take. DeVos was simply pointing out that different states and localities have different needs, and attempting to mandate a nationwide one-size-fits-all policy for every American school is imprudent.

How did the media run with it? By lying through their teeth. “Betsy DeVos Says Guns Should Be Allowed in Schools. They Might Be Needed to Shoot Grizzlies” (Slate). “Betsy DeVos: Schools May Need Guns to Fight Off Bears” (The Daily Beast). “Citing grizzlies, education nominee says states should determine school gun policies” (CNN). “Betsy DeVos says guns in schools may be necessary to protect students from grizzly bears” (ThinkProgress.) “Betsy DeVos says guns shouldn’t be banned in schools … because grizzly bears” (Vox). “Betsy DeVos tells Senate hearing she supports guns in schools because of grizzly bears” (The Week). “Trump’s Education Pick Cites ‘Potential Grizzlies’ As A Reason To Have Guns In Schools” (BuzzFeed).

8) January 26: The ‘Resignations’ At the State Department

On January 26, the Washington Post’s Josh Rogin published what seemed to be a bombshell report declaring that “the State Department’s entire senior management team just resigned.” This resignation, according to Rogin, was “part of an ongoing mass exodus of senior Foreign Service officers who don’t want to stick around for the Trump era.” These resignations happened “suddenly” and “unexpectedly.” He styled it as a shocking shake-up of administrative protocol in the State Department, a kind of ad-hoc protest of the Trump administration.

9) January 27: The Photoshopped Hands Affair

On January 27, Observer writer Dana Schwartz tweeted out a screenshot of Trump that, in her eyes, proved President Trump had “photoshopped his hands bigger” for a White House photograph. Her tweet immediately went viral, being shared upwards of 25,000 times. A similar tweet by Disney animator Joaquin Baldwin was shared nearly 9,000 times as well.

10) January 29: The Reuters Account Hoax

Following the Quebec City mosque massacre, the Daily Beast published a story that purported to identify the two shooters who had perpetrated the crime. The problem? The story’s source was a Reuters parody account on Twitter. Incredibly, nobody at the Daily Beast thought to check the source to any appreciable degree.

11) January 31: The White House-SCOTUS Twitter Mistake

Leading up to Trump announcing his first Supreme Court nomination, CNN Senior White House Correspondent Jeff Zeleny announced that the White House was “setting up [the] Supreme Court announcement as a prime-time contest.” He pointed to a pair of recently created “identical Twitter pages” for a theoretical justices Neil Gorsuch and Thomas Hardiman, the two likeliest nominees for the court vacancy.

12) January 31: The Big Travel Ban Lie

A Fox affiliate station out of Detroit reported that “A local business owner who flew to Iraq to bring his mother back home to the US for medical treatment said she was blocked from returning home under President Trump’s ban on immigration and travel from seven predominately Muslim nations. He said that while she was waiting for approval to fly home, she died from an illness.”

13) February 1: POTUS Threatens to Invade Mexico

Yahoo News published an Associated Press report about a phone call President Trump shared with Mexican president Enrique Pena Nieto. The report strongly implied that President Trump was considering “send[ing] U.S. troops” to curb Mexico’s “bad hombre” problem, although it acknowledged that the Mexican government disagreed with that interpretation. The White House later re-affirmed that Trump did not have any plan to “invade Mexico.”

14) February 2: Easing the Russian Sanctions

Last week, NBC News national correspondent Peter Alexander tweeted out the following: “BREAKING: US Treasury Dept easing Obama admin sanctions to allow companies to do transactions with Russia’s FSB, successor org to KGB.” His tweet immediately went viral, as it implied that the Trump administration was cozying up to Russia.

15) February 2: Renaming Black History Month

At the start of February, which is Black History Month in the United States, Trump proclaimed the month “National African American History Month.” Many outlets tried to spin the story in a bizarre way: TMZ claimed that a “senior administration official” said that Trump believed the term “black” to be outdated. “Every U.S. president since 1976 has designated February as Black History Month,” wrote TMZ. BET wrote the same thing.

16) February 2: The House of Representatives’ Gun Control Measures

On February 2, the Associated Press touched off a political and media firestorm by tweeting: “BREAKING: House votes to roll back Obama rule on background checks for gun ownership.” The AP was retweeted a staggering 12,000 times.

The headlines that followed were legion: “House votes to rescind Obama gun background check rule” (Kyle Cheney, Politico); “House GOP aims to scrap Obama rule on gun background checks” (CNBC); “House scraps background check regulation” (Yahoo News); “House rolls back Obama gun background check rule” (CNN); “House votes to roll back Obama rule on background checks for gun ownership” (Washington Post).

Some headlines were more specific about the actual House vote but no less misleading; “House votes to end rule that prevents people with mental illness from buying guns” (the Independent); “Congress ends background checks for some gun buyers with mental illness” (the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette); “House Votes to Overturn Obama Rule Restricting Gun Sales to the Severely Mentally Ill” (NPR).

The hysteria was far-reaching and frenetic. As you might have guessed, all of it was baseless. The House was actually voting to repeal a narrowly tailored rule from the Obama era. This rule mandated that the names of certain individuals who receive Social Security Disability Insurance and Supplemental Security Income and who use a representative to help manage these benefits due to a mental impairment be forwarded to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System.

Stop Reading Fake News

We suggest if you want to stop reading fake news, you might want to start with the mainstream media, that includes the likes of CNN and Fox News. Or at least vet what you read before spreading it even further.

Trudeau Government Becomes Second Largest Arms Dealer to the Middle East http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/trudeau-government-becomes-second-largest-arms-dealer-to-middle-east Sun, 05 Feb 2017 23:24:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/trudeau-government-becomes-second-largest-arms-dealer-to-middle-east Despite the atrocities caused by Saudi Arabia and it's ally's at home and against it's foes in the war in Yemen, the Canadian government continues to increase arms sales in order to help the oil rich country continue its bombardment of human rights abuses.

Under Prime minister Stephen Harper, Canada was 6th in the world in arms sales to the middle east. Now it hails as second, only behind the US, in shipments of military weaponry to the war torn region.

According to the National Observer, a Canadian publication:

Canada also sends military products directly to Algeria, China, South Sudan, and Colombia, to name a few countries with dismal records when it comes to human rights abuses. And our stamp is on weapons in many other countries thanks to re-exports from the US and elsewhere.

A large part of the increase was the recent sale of $15 billion in arms to Saudi Arabia. Despite the public accusations that this equipment might be used to further the human rights abuse caused by Saudi Arabia. The UN has even warned Allies of Saudi Arabia of possible war crimes, this includes Canada.

The Saudi government has been testing its new military equipment on Canadian military bases. Saudi Arabia has been a long standing customer of Canadian weaponry, however now that this war with Yemen is in full swing, they are in greater need of more firepower.

These new figures put Canada at sixth in the world for total arms sales, and likely greater then that since Canada's military shipments to the US are not counted in those official numbers.

Many of the electronic equipment they sell are parcelled into larger military equipment in the US and sold to countries Canada does not directly sell to, such as Pakistan.

With the death toll rising daily in Yemen, the conflict there has been said to be a more disastrous conflict then that happening in Syria which is also supported by the US and Canadian forces (less directly from Canada).

With evidence of large numbers civilian deaths appearing, the UN has temporarily blacklist Saudi Arabia. Even knowing this, the Canadian government still went ahead with it's recent military exports to the desert kingdom.

The Canadian government overlooking the UN report by saying there is no hard evidence that Canadian exports have been used against civilians.

The Real Problem With this

The CIA warned the previous US administrations of a greater chance of blowback when meddling in the affairs of other nations. The west is experiencing this blowback on a regular basis with terrorist events happening all over the west.

Most of the military industrial complex in the west is propped up by foreign aid to nations around conflict zones. They give millions or even billions of dollars to nations like Isreal, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, etc with the requirement that this money be used to buy military hardware within the generous nation.

Without this foreign aid, the military industrial complex would be insignificant. There wouldn't be a real market for it like there is today. The more conflicts their are around the world, the more our military equipment is needed.

The free market would see way fewer large scale wars like what we see around the globe today. The war in Syria has been ongoing for over 5 years now, in large part because of military equipment coming in from the US and even Canada, the same could be said about Yemen.

Without all of these indirect government incentives into the military industry, these people would be hard at work building things that would improve the lives of millions, rather than destroying the lives of millions in other parts of the world.

Government Corruption and Public Theft on Display in Berlin's New Airport http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/government-corruption-and-public-theft-on-display-in-berlins-new-airport Sun, 05 Feb 2017 21:13:20 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/government-corruption-and-public-theft-on-display-in-berlins-new-airport Berlin's new Brandenburg Airport has been a disaster throughout the eternally delayed airport, with taxpayers forced to foot the bill.

Intended to open in October 2011, five and a half years later, it's doors are still shuttered. The reason's why revolve around government incompetence... on display for the world to see.

As reported by Air-port-codes.com the reasons for the delays are somewhat laughable.

The hold up has been a cavalcade of comedic errors. Currently, the reason given for the delay is the doors. More than a thousand doors need to be refitted to ensure proper closure in a fire. But this is just another in a long line of excuses. Whether it is crumbling car parks, faulty fire-safety walls or even missing check-in counters, each month brings a new problem.

The original cost was scheduled to be around €2 billion, but that number has jumped to €6 billion, nearly 6 years later.

All of this extra cost has been forced upon the hard working German people without their say. Government taxation is theft forced upon people that usually have other intentions of what their money should be used for.

When tax payers money is in use, it doesn't really matter how high the expenses go. Usually no one looses their job. No one is penalized for their incompetence, the money keeps rolling in through the force of a gun and the threat of property seizure and kidnapping at the hands of the state.

The free market has a better solution. This sort of incompetence gets weeded out quickly when people's money and reputation is on the line.

If a private company was responsible for producing the funds and managing the building, they would be as efficient and competitive as possible while building a state of the art airport to compete and draw visitors over their competition.

The shareholders involved in funding the project would demand competency and would oversee a lot of the progress. The sort of incompetency the Germans have seen on this would have been done away with long ago.

This is only one example of government incompetence. But this sort of thing occurs on a daily basis all around the world. Berlin needed an airport, they should have looked to the free market to fix their problem, instead they forced a debacle on people that may never even use this airport.

When will people wake up and realize free people using the fruits of their labor, the way they see fit, is the best solution for humanity, everywhere.

Iran is Finally Ditching the Petrodollar http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/iran-is-finally-ditching-petrodollar Thu, 02 Feb 2017 07:24:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/iran-is-finally-ditching-petrodollar Iran will no longer use the US dollar in its financial and foreign exchange reporting, beginning in its new fiscal year in March. The governor of Iran's central bank, Valiollah Seif said in a televised interview on January 29th.

"Iran's difficulties [in dealing] with the dollar were in place from the time of the primary sanctions and this trend is continuing, but we face no limitations regarding other currencies"

Iran brings in $40 billion each year from it's oil reserves, selling most of it to China and UAE. It is likely they will eventually stop trading oil on the US petrodollar as their financial reporting will be a lot more difficult to manage, having both being in different currencies.

The governor said it would be pointless to remain reporting on the petrodollar since it makes up a meagre portion of the countries trade.

"In other words, we have to set a currency as the basis of financial reporting that has better stability and greater application in our foreign trade," Seif said.

This is significant, since as we've explained before, the petrodollar is a major reason of what is propping up the US economy and their military has been defending it for 60 years.

Several countries have tried going off the petrodollar in the past. Typically what happens next is invasion by the US and its ally's, destroying much of the countries infrastructure and a new western puppet government gets installed.

This happened to Iraq, Libya and now Syria before they were decimated by the mighty US military force. Ironically, the new US administration has put Iran on notice after reports surfaced of them recently test firing a single missile.

It's somewhat humorous how one test fire of a missile sends shockwaves around the mainstream media and US administrations (past and present). A person would have to be out of their mind to even contemplate the idea that Iran intends to attack the US.

Iran is not governed by suicidal maniacs, they are governed by people that want to preserve the power that they have.

The US needs to hang onto that petrodollar and they've shown they will do so at any and all costs. Generally what happens, as it has many times in the past, once a country decides to ditch the dollar, the war drums begin to beat.

The US government and media will typically begin a campaign of demonizing the offending country and even send arms into various factions within that country to destabilize it.

Once enough public support is on their side, they sanction, then either invade or create enough chaos to where it becomes a humanitarian mission allowing their drones and warplanes in so they can obliterate the countries infrastructure. Libya and Syria are the most recent examples of this happening.

Here's to hoping this new Trump administration has more sense about not getting bogged down in yet another US invasion in the middle east. We aren't holding our breath as I'm sure Donald Trump is aware of how precious that petrodollar status is.

Free Market Win: Today's Executive Order Requires Removal of 2 Regulations for Every New One http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/free-market-win-todays-executive-order-requires-removal-of-2-regulations-for-every-new-one Tue, 31 Jan 2017 06:38:01 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/free-market-win-todays-executive-order-requires-removal-of-2-regulations-for-every-new-one Less red tape is good for business. What is good for business is good for the economy and jobs. Today Donald Trump signed an executive order requiring that for every new regulation, 2 old ones must go.

This is a welcome gift to anyone who has ever operated a business. Ultimately anyone that ever wants a job should welcome this executive order.

“If you have a regulation you want, No. 1, we’re not gonna approve it because it’s already been approved probably in 17 different forms,” Trump said. “But if we do, the only way you have a chance is we have to knock out two regulations for every new regulation. So if there’s a new regulation, they have to knock out two.”

With thousands of new regulations being added every year, we are being bombarded with new regulations that have become costly and burdensome to operate businesses. Little kids aren't even allowed to operate a lemonade stand in most places.

The executive order, which was a fulfilled campaign promise, was done after the President held a listening session with a number of small business leaders.

One of the older business leaders verbally thanked Trump for signing the executive order saying:

Small businesses have been buried in a title wave of red tape. To break that will really change the world for us.

John Stossel takes a hard look at government regulations in this video. He points out how everything is now illegal in this country because of all of the new regulations we have to abide by each year.

Liberal Media is Deceptively Creating The Current Hysteria http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/liberal-media-is-deceptively-creating-the-current-hysteria Tue, 31 Jan 2017 06:09:12 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/liberal-media-is-deceptively-creating-the-current-hysteria Obama caused 500,000 deaths in 5 of the 7 countries banned by Trump. Liberals didn't seem to mind that stat, but only when Trump banned entry from citizens from those countries that America is at war with, did they make a peep.

Liberal hypocrisy has no limits with riots, protests, fights, mainstream media improperly calling this a "muslim ban" even though the top 5 muslim countries aren't even on the list.

Most people protesting haven't even read the executive order. Mainly because most mainstream media outlets haven't posted it or any links to view it. Their headlines read "muslim ban", however when people actually get a chance to read it, it has nothing to do with muslims and never even says the word "muslim".

The ban is about limiting access to the US for travellers for countries that are high risk and ultimately countries the US is at war with because they are dropping bombs on them daily.

Ron Paul offered a great solution, stop bombing these countries and there wont be so many terrorists. The US has been at war with the middle east for 25 years now, surely they've created a few terrorists out of all the bombs they have dropped (26,000 of them last year alone).

But if they are going to be at war with these countries, then they need to be careful who they let from those countries into their own. It's simple common sense.

More racist left hysteria. Liberal preschool teacher says she's going to radicalize F..ing 4 & 5 year olds.

She also said, "We need to start killing white people".

Blames the current situation on capitalism and that white people need to start giving away their homes and other possessions. If only she knew what capitalism is. These racists are the sorts of people protesting at airports.

Do you want uneducated racists like this teaching your kids? I don't!

She does not promote liberty, but hatred, theft and more government to control our lives. Do you notice it is the very people protesting against the govt that push for more govt. Their end game is an Orwellian nightmare.

Canada out of TPP after Trump Nixes it http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/canada-out-of-tpp-after-trump-nixes-it Fri, 27 Jan 2017 16:54:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/canada-out-of-tpp-after-trump-nixes-it The TPP is dead in the water according to Canada's Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freland. Speaking to reporters in Calgary after learning U.S. President Donald Trump withdrew from the 12-nation agreement on Monday.

"This agreement was so constructed that it can only enter into force with the United States as a ratifying country, So the TPP as a deal cannot happen without the United States being a party to it."

The deal between the 12 countries is sold as a free trade deal, however analyzing the finer points show that is not true. With it comes more managed trade between the countries involved.

With thousands of pages in the agreement, there is a complete management of the trade between all of these countries, which is good for some groups and bad for others.

The TPP would sacrifice national sovereignty, public health and internet freedom all in the name of profiting large international corporations. This agreement is corporatism (crony capitalism) at its finest.

It would allow multi-national companies to expand the monopoly powers of pharmaceutical patents. It would also allow them to block websites accused of violating copyright law.

A whole new set of rules regulating the economies of 12 different countries on 4 separate continents all separated by one large Pacific Ocean.

The partnership would encompass 40% of the world's GDP, which would make the TPP the single largest economic treaty ever.

The agreement has been negotiated almost entirely in secret with the help of hundreds of corporations lobbying to benefit their profits at the expense of others.

The best solution is free trade, but you can't get that by having bigger government, which the TPP requires in order to manage all the legality involved with the agreement.

The TPP protects special interests and does not help the free market. The TPP is so complicated that discussion between factions involved have been going on for more than 10 years now.

Wikileaks condemned the partnership in a press release after releasing classified documents about it that were not previously known to the public.

The documents revealed that companies can file a lawsuit if they believe to be losing profit or even have a lower expectation of profit due to changes in the "environmental, health or other regulatory objectives".

For instance, a tobacco company could sue a country because their anti-smoking regulations could potentially hurt their companies profits.

Obama's White House promised the deal would increase jobs, boost exports and lower tariffs on US products in Asia. However, economist Robert Reich said, "the TPP is a Trojan horse in a global race to the bottom".

The big problem with the deal is that it creates an international court that is not bound by the laws in any country, meaning, companies in Canada or the US will be bound by laws outside of their own sovereign country. This ultimately means more regulations for them to follow and more government to abide by. That is not at all Free Trade.

This leads us even further down the path of global governance, something we at Free Market Capitalism will constantly warn about. This program is enslavement and the TPP only trades your freedom away.

It only got passed because the public was ignorant as to what it was. Making an agreement several thousand pages long has the ability to do just that.

Dow 20,000 is Not a Win; It Shows Inflation is Getting Out of Control http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/dow-20-000-is-not-a-win-it-shows-inflation-is-getting-out-of-control Thu, 26 Jan 2017 17:52:43 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/dow-20-000-is-not-a-win-it-shows-inflation-is-getting-out-of-control The Dow Jones only consists of 30 stocks, the 20k mark might be a psychological barrier but it actually is more significant than most media outlets portray.

In May of 2009, the Dow Jones hit a low point of 6500, since then the US main money manipulator and private bank (the Federal Reserve) has engaged in several rounds of quantitative easing (money printing) programs in order to force money into the system and prop up a failing system.

The Fed also unnaturally lowered interest rates to near 0 in the hopes private businesses and individuals would go into debt and borrow more money. Not to mention the borrowing cost for the US government would be significantly eased by this as well.

The US government certainly took the bait by nearly doubling the US debt to unbelievable records of nearly $20 trillion

Interest on that debt is currently at $255 billion every year. That means, 6% of the federal budget is used to pay the interest on the debt incurred from past administrations.

With the current federal funds rate set at 0.75%, just imagine what the interest on that debt would look like if it was normalized around 5 or 6%.

The main issue here, is government spending is greatly damaging the economy, inflation is starting to kick in and the Dow Jones numbers are a big sign of what is happening.

The middle class is and will suffer but even worse will be the plight of the poor and those living on fixed incomes (retirees). Everything they buy will cost them that much more, all because the government wants to spend lots and lots of money.

With all of these marches and pleading for the government to do more, just means more government spending for their attempt to fix or stimulate the economy.

In reality, the government can only get out of the way and let the free market do what it does best; be productive and create jobs and wealth for willing people wanting to partake in it.

Trump May be Considering Legalizing Pot http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/trump-may-be-considering-legalizing-pot Tue, 24 Jan 2017 22:56:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/trump-may-be-considering-legalizing-pot The Trump administration has confirmed a prominent marijuana legalization advocate is being considered to head the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer has confirmed in a press conference that Jim O'Neil is in contention for the job.

O'Neil is a strong supporter of marijuana and was an active board member for the Coalition for Cannabis Policy Reform, which helped legalize it in California.

He is the managing director at Mithril Capital Management, owned by Silicon Valley billionaire Peter Thiel who is a major Trump donor and transition team advisor.

If confirmed, this appointment will be questioned by many from Trump's base, but hailed by social liberals and libertarians alike.

With Trump's focus being on the economy and creating jobs, it only makes sense that he would want to decriminalize a drug that has never been known to kill anyone through its use.

Currently all pot sales (aside from a few states) are done on the black market leaving the federal government out of the loop for valuable tax revenues.

The Cato Institute estimates marijuana revenue could generate nearly $9 billion annually in direct federal and state tax revenue, if it was taxed similarly to alcohol and tobacco. Governments would also save billions not having to enforce draconian federal and state laws enforcing its prohibition.

The US currently spends $51 billion on the never ending war on drugs. This figure would diminish drastically if Trump were to decriminalize its use. Law enforcement arrests around 650 thousand people every year for a marijuana law violation.

The US has the highest incarceration rate in the entire world, this is a costly burden on taxpayers and it is mostly due to the war on drugs. In 2014 the US saw 2,224,400 Americans, or 1 in every 11 adults, incarcerated for drug related offences. In fact, every 37 seconds, someone is busted for pot.

With 28 US states already legalizing its use for marijuana, it only makes sense the Donald Trump would legalize its use. The political gains he would make from doing so, would be enormous.

Under Obama's DEA, the non-addictive Cannabis oil was recently reclassified as a schedule 1 drug, meaning they have no medical use and could be abused. However, the oil has been known as a natural solution used to help treat various medical issues such as childhood seizures, epilepsy and even cancer.

Not only would the Republicans boast about freeing negro slaves from the civil war but they would also be able to boast about freeing incarcerated non-violent Americans from the drug war.

Women Everywhere Should be Embarrassed by these Women's Marches http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/women-everywhere-should-be-embarrassed-by-these-womens-marches Sun, 22 Jan 2017 07:24:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/women-everywhere-should-be-embarrassed-by-these-womens-marches Hundreds of thousands of feminists are currently marching throughout the streets of major cities around the world trying to get governments to pass laws that will force employers to pay men and women the same salaries.

They feel there is massive discrimination against women, however when you look at the statistics within proper control groups you find the opposite is true, that men are actually earning less pay then women.

Feminist groups are creating a huge disservice to their fellow females, making them think they are being unfairly treated, making them disgruntled at their lot in life and hateful toward men, for no reason at all.

The gender pay gap is not a result of discrimination but is due to personal choices in regards to income, occupation, flexibility and fulfillment. Read on to lean how capitalism has made the world a little more fare then what you might have been taught by the mainstream media and outspoken feminist groups.

Author of 7 gender related books and former feminist, Warren Farrell, explains in this video where the discrepancies in the misconstrued gender pay gap come from and why we should not take them at face value.

Occupational Choice

More men work in fields that garner higher pay such as engineering, computer sciences and technology or even those involving hazardous work places.

More men work in hazardous jobs which often-times leads to higher pay, and the tradeoff being 93% of people who die in the workplace are men, with a death rate approximately 11 times higher than women. The industries with the highest death rates are mining, agriculture, forestry, fishing, and construction, all of which attract more men than women workers.

If you compare people who work 44 hours a week verses those who work 34 hours a week the difference in pay is around 100% more, believe it or not, and on average men tend to spend extra time at work, putting in overtime and staying late to get more work done.

The average male works 3.5 hours per week more then the average female. That figure alone accounts for 70% of the pay gap. Typically people who put in more hours at work show greater commitment to the company they are working for which leads to them being chosen for promotions and pay raises over those who show less commitment. This also adds to the pay gap discrepancies that cannot be charted in any reasonable way.

The Role of Capitalism

Why would anyone hire a man, if women could be hired for less pay for doing the same work? This is a common sense question. Women would be at an advantage and more hireable if this was the case and no one would ever care to hire a man in that situation.

Capitalism has a built in mechanism to punish people who discriminate and hire people paying them more then they would another person for doing the same work. They would be loosing business because they would be paying their employees (men) more then their competition could and in doing so would have to raise prices.

The capitalistic punishment would involve that company going out of business or going broke as a result of their poor hiring standards. This is why we push for the ideals of free market capitalism to fix our problems and not get government involved, as they will always make things worse.

In essence, the government would not be needed to do what is already built into the structure of capitalism. Which is to punish those who discriminate against those who hire people to do less work for more money.

It should also be mentioned that taking a job is a voluntary decision between two parties. No one is forcing a woman to take or even keep the job they are in. If you are not happy with your pay, free market competition allows you to shop around for a better job. Why would you ever need the government to fix your problems when you are fully capable of doing that yourself. You don't!

Family Decisions

A lot of pay gap discrepancies are a result from family decisions and women taking time off to have and raise their children. Jesse Bernard analyzed this discrepancy and discovered something unusual. In his book "The Future of Marriage" he mentioned how never-married men (with no children) make on average less than never-married women (with no children).

The crazy thing is, this book was written over 30 years ago, so this discrepancy has been around for decades.

Another interesting tidbit about that analysis is never-married women tend to work more hours and be more educated then never-married men, which supports the previous argument, that those who work more hours earn more pay.

Men who are never married and have never had children earn 85% of the amount that women who have never married or had children earn, when education, income and age are all controlled for.

There are more than 90 fields in which women out earn men and 30 large fields where women out-earn men by at least 5%. These fields include workers in investment banking and even dental hygienists.

Human Contact

There are a lot of fields, particularly those that involve touching people or looking at people naked from both sexes that completely discriminate against men. For instance, most people prefer female dental hygienists because they prefer a woman's fingers in their mouth as opposed to a mans. The same situation applies to massage therapy or even ob-gyn doctors who, today are mostly female. Is that discrimination, or is it just the facts of life?

Even looking at more simplistic jobs like Walmart workers. For the jobs that don't require that much or any skill to do the work you will find 90% of workers will be women. For instance, in women's apparel, 99% of the workers are women and in mens apparel 93% of the workers are women.

Since there is this discrimination against men, this forces men to get additional skills in order to be hired and those skills allow them to be promoted more quickly over the women who don't have those same skills.

Feminists overlook these things and cry out discrimination, convincing millions of people to march in protest and force witting politicians to force regulations on businesses that end up not only harming the businesses but harming women in the process since it can price women out of jobs they would have previously been hired into.

Bosses

Another discrimination that is claimed by feminists is that male bosses discriminate against females. However, if you look at the data, that just is not correct. In fact if you look at small businesses that are owned by women and compare them to small businesses owned by men; the women owners make 49% of what male owners make. So when women are working under male bosses they are far more likely to make an equal amount as their male peers then when women were their own bosses.

The reason for this is due in large part because the goals of self employed men and women are different. Self employed women are more focussed on having a balanced work-home life where men are more focussed on their work. This is not discrimination, its just that different genders choose different focusses in where they put their time and energy.

Supply and Demand

The laws of supply and demand also play into the gender pay gap. Women tend to choose occupations that are more fulfilling to them then those that are of higher pay. So you will find more women teachers or librarians because those are fulfilling jobs and less women garbage collectors. Nobody wants to be a garbage collector.

This means their are more workers in the teaching or librarian fields which drives down wages in those fields and garbage collecting rates will be higher even though less education is needed in those types of occupations. This once again is not discrimination but a simple truth of the market place.

Power

All of this boils down to the perspective of power. Women feel empowered by doing what they enjoy and not letting work run their life, where men feel more empowered succeeding at work and striving to get to the next level. Essentially men strive to earn more money that someone else will spend and they will end up dying sooner.

Both of those routes can lead to greatly different income amounts, but this does not in any way involve any form of discrimination. If discrimination in the work place was a real thing, capitalism would root it out very quickly.

The argument from socialists is to get government involved to fix these issues by adding new laws restricting pay discrepancies between genders. The government never fixes anything and in making these sort of laws, this will end up hurting women by taking possible jobs away from them. If a company has to pay a man who is more dedicated to the company then a woman who will put less time in, the man will typically win out on getting the job.

Don't let the government hurt women by passing gender pay laws.

DC Rioters Wanting Bigger Government are Misdirecting Their Anger http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/dc-rioters-wanting-bigger-government-are-misdirecting-their-anger Sat, 21 Jan 2017 07:11:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/dc-rioters-wanting-bigger-government-are-misdirecting-their-anger Though he was a minor Beatle, he made a profound statement. Ringo Star was once quoted saying, "Anything the government touches, turns to crap." Ringo was absolutely right when he said that.

Thousands of politically motivated rioters have been out causing chaos, seemingly directing their anger at corporations. They have been seen smashing store windows, setting cars on fire, turning over mailboxes and dragging them in the street. They are angry that corporations are too successful and so they want to harm those businesses with their petty acts of vandalism.

What do these rioters want? They think corporations make too much money and the government should force them to give more of their money to them so that wealth can be spread around society more fairly. Essentially, they want more government regulations and taxes and they don't believe Donald Trump will do that for them so they are letting the world know that.

Their anger is misplaced. Instead of pushing the government to pass more regulations and more taxation of those that have things, they should be pushing for the size of government to shrink. The problem is government is far to big and what government really does is it removes wealth from society and drags it down.

The government doesn't have any wealth of its own. The only way the government accumulates wealth is through direct taxation of its citizens or through the hidden inflation tax known as printing money, or as modern economists like to call it quantitative easing. Those are the only two sources of income for the government.

Both of which are harmful to productive, hard working citizens. The government ends up waisting a large portion of those funds on bureaucratic and political processes before it ends up helping anyone.

When one dollar is stolen from a hard working person, who spent their time producing something of value that benefits the lives of other people, that is one dollar that is removed from productive means in society and now is in the hands of unproductive hands that do not produce any wealth of its own.

Countless people have to take their portion of that one dollar before the school teacher down the street gets any of it.

All the people at the IRS and their attorneys have to get paid, then it goes to the treasury and those people have to get paid, Congress have to get paid while they argue about some new spending bill, their aids have to get paid, the people who maintain the government buildings have to get paid, the people in all of the regional government offices have to get paid.

Then finally a school teacher gets 50 cents of that dollar after it works its way through the government mess of unproductive people.

All of these people that touched that dollar who get a portion of it all have frictional jobs that produce no value to society whatsoever; they don't produce anything that anyone would buy. If those people didn't work for the government and actually worked to produce valuable things for society, the world would be in a far better state.

The government produces misery in that it takes away from the productive resources in society and puts it in the hands of unproductive people. In other words, the government makes society less productive.

Many people on the left ideological spectrum (liberals) always focus on what other people are doing. When they see someone making a lot of money, they claim that person shouldn't make so much money, they should "spread the wealth around." Instead, they should be praising that individual, learning from them and trying to replicate their success.

Focus on yourself, learn from others successes and mistakes, but who cares how much everyone else is making, so long as they aren't getting rich as a result of government intervention, then they are a net positive for society. Free market capitalists and fiscal conservatives understand this and we applaud them for it.

The bigger government gets, the less productive society becomes.

Donald Trump's Tarif Threats will end up Hurting The Free Market http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/donald-trump-is-a-threat-to-free-market-capitalism Sat, 21 Jan 2017 02:49:00 +0000 Paul Henry http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/donald-trump-is-a-threat-to-free-market-capitalism Donald Trump has threatened four American companies into changing their business plans. This is a huge threat to the very notion of free market capitalism.

One of the most important aspects of free market capitalism is the lack of government involvement.

This is a principle component of any truly free market – ‘laissez-faire’ – ‘hands-off’ capitalism.

Before he has even taken office, Trump has pressurized a number of corporations to keep their business in the USA or else they will face severe sanctions.

We are guessing, Trump also may have offered tax incentives in order to keep them here. If that is the case then that will destroy the even playing field and harm their competitors which is also a detriment to the free market.

We love low taxes but they have to be low for everyone, not just the companies that threaten to move jobs offshore.

He has publicly threatened Carrier, Chrysler, Ford and Toyota so far. In each case, he has promised sanctions and taxes should these companies move their business.

These moves have been taken from a populist and political standpoint, not an economic or logical one.

From 1970 to 2012, the percentage of jobs that belonged to manufacturing has fallen from 26.4% to just 10.3%.

But as a proportion of GDP, it has fallen from 13% to nearly 12% in the same time period.

America has not lost its manufacturing edge, or lost its industry. She has just become better at it.

The moves taken by the new President Trump should outrage any defender of free market capitalism.

The new President has effectively pushed four private corporations into the servitude of the State. The political right, rather than condemn this crony capitalism, has celebrated it.

This cannot continue under his new administration, or the very cornerstones of free market capitalism will be under threat.

If we believe in the free market, we must stand up to the bullying of American corporations.

Student Loan Payback Rate Worse Than Thought http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/student-loan-payback-rate-worse-than-thought Sat, 21 Jan 2017 01:59:00 +0000 Paul Henry http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/student-loan-payback-rate-worse-than-thought New data reveals more than half of students either default or fail to pay even $1 on their student loan in seven years, highlighting once again the myth of free education.

Last Friday, a week before the new administration took over the White House, the Education Department provided revised numbers on student loan repayment rates and they are far worse then previously stated by the Obama administration.

The Obama administration blames the correction on a "technical difficulty error" and now that they are no longer in power, it will be very difficult to even know what that means let alone find a clear explanation as to why their numbers were so wrong. It's almost a coincidence that the correction came out right before their job was over. Hmmm!

With total student debt now surpassing a whopping $1.2 trillion and climbing every day, the new numbers show the poor state of the economy or at least for those entering the work force.

At a quarter of all college and trade schools in the country, at least half the students failed to pay down even $1 on their debt within seven years after graduation.

Further, the analysis shows how he Education Department has inflated repayment rates across the country.

In fact, they have inflated repayment rates for 99.8% of all colleges and trade schools.

The Bernie Sanders crowd have capitalized on figures like these in calling for free education. This idea is a huge red flag for any lover of the free market, since nothing is actually free.

It is not free for those paying for others to go to college. The working man has to pay the taxes and suffer the consequences to send somebody else to college

It is not even free for those being paid to go to college. The very people free education is supposed to help are the very ones that are so negatively impacted by it.

The effect might not be obvious. It comes in the form of inflation of prices, tremendous unemployment, and a weak economy that does not provide enough jobs.

Hopefully, these new statistics will convince more and more people of the old adage – there really is no such thing as a free lunch.

CNN Pushing Story About Trump Assassination at Inauguration http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/cnn-pushing-story-about-trump-assassination-at-inauguration Thu, 19 Jan 2017 23:20:20 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/cnn-pushing-story-about-trump-assassination-at-inauguration The Clinton News Network (CNN) has been dreaming up scenarios that would allow their bromance with President Obama to continue into a third term. They are telling the public that if Trump were to be assassinated during his inauguration, then Obama or someone he appoints would be able to stay in office.

It's hard to imagine why CNN would push a story like this, other then the fact they are hoping this might come to pass. It will surely help promote the idea to their followers from the radical left, who detest Donald Trump.

During Wolf Blitzer's "The Situation Room", he discussed at length, with correspondent Brian Todd what would happen if president elect Donald Trump was to be assassinated. They promoted this message with the headline "Developing Now".

Blitzer asked the question, "What if an incoming president and his immediate successors were wiped out on day one?". Todd posed the idea that perhaps a bomb blew up the podium killing both Trump and Pense.

He offered several answers to that scenario, one of which included Obama's appointee of the designated survivor to take over the reigns of government. In most of CNN's options, the Obama administration in one way or another would retain power.

This is a disgusting use of the media power that CNN has enjoyed over the last couple decades. It might be a reason why their ratings have plummeted as of late. They have become the crown jewel of the Fakestream Media.

There have been several planned marches on Washington against Trump's inauguration and also a large group of bikers have planned to show up in support and protection of the new president. People are not expecting Friday's events to be very peaceful. CNN just added kindling those flames.

If you used to visit CNN.com, we recommend you boycott that news organization for promoting such bigotry towards the newly elected President Elect. We have our qualms about Trump and Obama but we would never promote a supposed story about violence towards either of those individuals.

Obama has Deported More Immigrants Than Any Other US President http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/obamas-deportation-legacy-more-than-ever-before Thu, 19 Jan 2017 07:49:00 +0000 Paul Henry http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/obamas-deportation-legacy-more-than-ever-before On Friday, Donald Trump will be inaugurated as the next President of the United States.

Many fear his rhetoric on mass deportation, having expressed plans to deport 11 million people, something Ron Paul has described as “impossible”.

But before any attack on Trump’s rhetoric, there must be an evaluation of Obama’s action.

Over the past 8 years, the Obama administration has deported over 2.5 million immigrants, more than any American President ever.

The Obama administration has deported a higher number of immigrants than the sum total of all deportations from the USA in the 20th Century.

The budget for the deportation enforcement agency has more than tripled under his administration, to more than $18 BN.

A free market approach to immigration would be strongly opposed to such mass deportation, but also to the welfare state that creates such problems.

The central problem with immigration in America is a weak economy, which cannot absorb more people competing for American jobs, combined with a welfare state that subsides immigration.

Like any other person, migrants should be permitted to participate in the economy, but the welfare state distorts the benefits of labor moving toward jobs and capital.

The solution to this, however, is not walls or more government agents, but reductions in the welfare state, and limits on citizenship. If you are going to pay the education, health care and other needs for anyone who comes into your country, you will have an endless supply of people wanting to stay for an extended period.

Alibaba Founder Jack Ma says America has Wasted its Wealth on Fighting Wars instead of Infrastructure http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/united-states-military-spending-trounces-infrastructure-spending Thu, 19 Jan 2017 07:27:00 +0000 Oliver Goodman http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/united-states-military-spending-trounces-infrastructure-spending Alibaba founder Jack Ma took a shot at US government priorities during an interview at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. He told a reporter America is hurting, China is not to blame for America's economic downfall, but its own overblown military budgets.

Ma said the US has spent over $14 trillion fighting wars over the last 30 years instead of on deteriorating infrastructure at home.

He was critical of Donald Trump's assessment that America is hurting because of the loss of jobs to the Chinese market. Ma said blaming China is misguided and the blame should be placed on US policy and the overblown military budget is to blame. He said they should have spent all of that money building up their infrastructure at home, like China has been doing.

With the US in debt now a whopping $20 trillion and that figure rising over $1 trillion every year, Jack Ma has a very good point. The Federal Reserve is on a collision course with hyper inflation unless it reverses course quickly. The 2008 economic recession will look like a walk in the park compared to the next economic downturn that is on the horizon.

With interest rates at all-time lows, never ending deficits, foreign central banks selling US Treasuries at record levels, record high numbers of Americans surviving on Food Stamps, one wonders if this is all a trap for Trump to take the blame for the collapse that is just around the corner.

The US military budget, currently around $610 trillion and growing, is larger then the next 7 countries military spending combined, 5 of which are ally's.

In comparison to the military budget, the federal government spends $69.98 billion on education and $26.28 billion on transportation.

Libertarian minded Republican Congressman Ron Paul warned America about its ridiculous military spending in the 2008 and 2012 Republican Primary debates.

"We're under great threat, because we occupy so many countries," Paul said. "We're in 130 countries. We have 900 bases around the world. We're going broke."

Sadly, warmonger John McCain and later Mitt Romney got the nod, underhandedly mind you, for the Republican ticket. A libertarian minded free market candidate would have done wonders to military spending and overall spending, not to mention the increase to the free market.

It is difficult to say where Donald Trump stands on several issues. He does appear to be an authoritarian, wanting to rule every sector of America, just as his predecessors did. His tariff ideas will fail as it will raise the cost of living for millions of Americans.

We will always promote the free market as it will lead the majority of people out of poverty and into following their dreams to potentially enrich others lives in the process, through job creation, innovation and technological advancements created by willing individuals.

The US political landscape is setup so America always needs an enemy to feed its military industrial complex, oftentimes fabricated. In order for the pentagon to continue to receive the $600B budget, it needs someone to fight, weather that is Russia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria and Russia once again, America is not interested in defending itself at home but it cares more about arming and attacking folks abroad.

A major way the US military industrial complex works is the US gives financial aid to dozens of countries around the world, requiring many of them, including Israel, to spend that money on US military hardware, ensuring the US government is not the only supporter of their military industry; although in reality, they are.

The money they give to these countries is borrowed from the privately run Federal Reserve who doesn't actually have that money, but they create it out of thin air, which causes inflation and in the process devalues every Americans purchasing power of their savings.

Jack Ma, along with Ron Paul and many others are right about the US not needing such a crazy military budget. They should be focussing on building up their country and helping the free market work at home rather than on fixing (or worsening) everyone else problems abroad.

New York Taxi Lobby Wants to Ban Uber For 50 Years http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/new-york-taxi-lobby-wants-to-ban-uber-for-50-years Wed, 18 Jan 2017 06:31:40 +0000 Oliver Goodman http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/new-york-taxi-lobby-wants-to-ban-uber-for-50-years Professional drivers such as Limo and Taxi employees are calling for the ban of self-driving Uber cars to be brought to New York in fear of losing their jobs to automation.

In September 2016 ride-hailing app giant, Uber, brought self-driving cars to Pittsburgh (and then to San Francisco three months later in December) to begin testing what Uber believes will be the future of their corporation.

As of January 2017, drivers using ride-hailing apps like Uber and Lyft and a few other smaller companies are reported to have outnumbered yellow taxicabs in New York City by four to one. However, yellow cabs are still pulling more daily rides than Uber in November earned $4.8 million dollars in fares in NYC. Unfortunately for the yellow cabs, Uber is expected to outperform the cabs in daily rides in the near future.

Upstate New York Limo and Taxi drivers are not at all interested in allowing Uber to facilitate services in their region of the Empire State, lobbying for a 50-year ban on all self-driving cars by Uber. This lobbying was a response after a failed lobby to allow Uber to operate in Upstate New York at all.

Uber has promised that it would bring 130,000 new jobs to upstate New York if allowed to operate in the area, drivers upstate are skeptical of that promise. With the coming self-driving cars many of the opposed New Yorkers believe that while jobs will come initially, they will be replaced by automation.

The Upstate Transportation Association sent a letter to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York Senate to voice their fears and ask for said ban. In early January 2017, Cuomo announced his plan to allow Uber to operate in Upstate New York to the dismay of the New Yorkers. Cuomo’s plan mainly outlines safety and insurance regulations.

This was not a very surprising decision by Cuomo as he was quoted praising Uber in July of 2015 saying, “Uber is one of these great inventions, startups, of this new economy and it's taking off like fire to dry grass and it's giving people jobs. I don't think the government should be in the business of trying to restrict job growth.”

While the ban on self-driving cars is yet to be addressed, it is unlikely that Cuomo will allow the ban to take place, as the New York Governor is not in favor of using government regulations to stunt the growth of business in his state.

It makes you wonder where the world would be today if the horse and buggy lobby had successfully pushed a 50-year ban on motor vehicles. Too many people see automation as a bad thing, but if you look at the big picture, it is a win for the majority of people.

Obama Commutes Chelsea Mannings Sentence & Julian Assange Might Turn Himself In http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/breaking-obama-commutes-chelsea-mannings-sentence-julian-assange-might-turn-himself-in Tue, 17 Jan 2017 22:47:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/breaking-obama-commutes-chelsea-mannings-sentence-julian-assange-might-turn-himself-in President Obama, in the last hours of his presidency has commuted the sentence of Chelsea Manning who is currently serving 35 years in a US military prison for espionage.

In 2010, Manning leaked a trove of information to Wikileaks, related to illegal activities conducted by the US military around the globe. She is now scheduled to be released on May 17 of this year, instead of her originally scheduled release date of 2045.

Her original sentence of 35 years was by far the longest sentence imposed in the United States for leaked classified material. She will now only serve a total of 7 years which will come to an end in May.

This is very good news for the whistleblower community, libertarians, free market and government transparency watchdogs alike.

Three days ago the hashtag #HugsForChelsea had gone viral as thousands of people around the world were offering support to the whistleblower in the hopes that Obama would pardon her before he left office. Obama has come through and we're very happy to see Manning on her way to freedom.

Julian Assange

Last September, Julian Assange, the leader of Wikileaks agreed to turn himself in to the US Justice department if Obama released Chelsea Manning. Now all eyes are on Assange to see if he will walk out of the Ecuadorian embassy in London.

The embassy has been Assange's prison since the Manning leaks came out. We imagine, if he does turn himself in, it won't be until Manning is freed in may.

Edward Snowden

The former NSA analyst, turned whistleblower, Edward Snowden, who is currently in hiding in Russia has also voiced his request for Obama to pardon Manning. We're hoping Obama also grants a pardon to Snowden, but that might be a stretch.

Snowden revealed an inside look into the NSA illegally spying on American citizen phone, email and internet a few years after Manning released her information to Wikileaks. Snowden has been in hiding ever since.

Glen Greenwald

Glenn Greenwald was one of the key journalists to break the story about Edward Snowden to the public. He's also an outspoken critic of the imprisonment of Chelsea Manning and has gone on various news outlets demanding her release.

Military Mistake in Nigeria Kills 100+ Civilians http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/military-mistake-in-nigeria-kills-100-civilians Tue, 17 Jan 2017 18:56:01 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/military-mistake-in-nigeria-kills-100-civilians NBCNews

MAIDUGURI, Nigeria — A Nigerian Air Force fighter jet on a mission against Boko Haram extremists mistakenly bombed a refugee camp Tuesday, killing more than 100 refugees and wounding aid workers, a Borno state official said. A Red Cross worker said 20 volunteers with the aid group had been killed.

The state government official, who was helping to coordinate the evacuation of wounded from the remote area by helicopters, spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to reporters.

Military commander Maj. Gen. Lucky Irabor confirmed the accidental bombardment in northeast Rann, near the border with Cameroon.

This is believed to be the first time Nigeria's military has admitted to making such a mistake.

Among the wounded were two soldiers and Nigerians working for Doctors Without Borders and the International Committee of the Red Cross, Irabor said.

An ICRC employee told the AP that 20 Red Cross volunteers were among the dead. He spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not supposed to give information to reporters.

Doctors Without Borders said its team based in Rann had counted 50 bodies and treated 120 wounded. A statement from spokesman Etienne l'Hermitte urged authorities to facilitate land and air evacuations, saying, "Our medical and surgical teams in Cameroon and Chad are ready to treat wounded patients. We are in close contact with our teams, who are in shock following the event."

Irabor said he ordered the mission based on information that Boko Haram insurgents were gathering, along with geographic coordinates. It was too early to say if a tactical error was made, he said.

The general, who is the theater commander for counterinsurgency operations in northeast Nigeria, said the Air Force would not deliberately target civilians but there will be an investigation.

Villagers in the past have reported some civilian casualties in near-daily bombardments in northeastern Nigeria.

Some of the nearly 300 Chibok schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram in 2014 and freed last year have said three of their classmates were killed by Air Force bombardments, according to the freed girls' parents.

Study Suggests: Starting work before 10am is a form of Torture http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/tantamount-to-torture-starting-work-before-10-am Tue, 17 Jan 2017 03:40:53 +0000 Paul Henry http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/tantamount-to-torture-starting-work-before-10-am Many of us feel tired when we start work at 9AM.

We wake up, brush our teeth, and head into the office.

Once there, we make sure to get the essential item to shake the lethargy: coffee.

If you are one of the many, we have some good news. There is good reason for the lethargy, and you are not the only one!

Recently published research from Oxford University has discovered a major flaw with the system of work.

Our bodies are not developed to start working before 10AM.

Rather, our bodies are primed to run by a genetically pre-programming cycle, known as the Circadian rhythm.

The Circadian rhythm is the body’s internal clock. It is has been developed through our evolution as a species, determining many of our physiological processes.

Work before 10AM interferes with that cycle.

Dr. Paul Kelley, the sleep scientist behind the research, lamented this at the British Science festival.

He stated, “We’ve got a sleep deprived society, and everybody is suffering”. He called it a “form of torture” to force individuals to work before 10.

His research showed that most people between the ages of 10-55 are missing out on 2-3 hours sleep

each day, as a result of the standard 9am start.

As we know, sleep deprivation can lead to serious physical and mental health issues.

Furthermore, this “torture” leads individuals to drinking more coffee, to stay alert at work.

In America, the average coffee drinker consumes 3.2 cups a day, with 65% of coffee consumed in breakfast hours.

Given the high health risk, high waste, and high cost of such caffeine addiction, and the damaging impact of low sleep quality, isn’t it time we start work later?

Eight Men Own 50% of the Global Wealth, Small Business Could be the Answer http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/eight-men-own-50-of-the-global-wealth-small-business-could-be-the-answer Tue, 17 Jan 2017 03:35:01 +0000 Oliver Goodman http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/eight-men-own-50-of-the-global-wealth-small-business-could-be-the-answer Who are these men?

The eight men are Bill Gates of Microsoft, Inditex founder Amancio Ortega, veteran investor Warren Buffett, Mexico's Carlos Slim, Amazon boss Jeff Bezos, Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg, Oracle's Larry Ellison and former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg.

The majority of these men are the owners or CEOs of gigantic corporations; while this fact is not very shocking, perhaps one would wonder if there would be a way to challenge large corporations to make the possession of wealth more diluted.

Currently, there are about 27.9 million small businesses in the United States, which account for 54% of sales in the USA. In fact, since the 1970s, 55% of all jobs have come from small business.

What Small Business Can Do

All of these men were at one time small business owners themselves. In most cases, they started a business from scratch, figured out what people wanted and needed and capitalized on that. The more they grew, the more they were able to reinvest that capital into something larger and larger.

Oftentimes what happens when a company grows to be a certain size, is they join the lobby game in Washington. They hire people who can promote their needs to powerful bureaucrats. They donate large sums of money to politicians to help them get elected, in response, these politicians write laws that help them stay big and stay #1 in their industry.

In many cases these large companies will donate large sums to candidates from both parties, ensuring the company always wins. These companies then push these winning candidates to pass more and more restrictions on their industries, usually under the guise of the public good.

These regulations make it difficult for smaller businesses to compete with the larger ones. Abiding by these regulations are generally easy for large corporations with armies of lawyers to deal with. The small ones don't have that luxury.

A small government is the solution. If bureaucrats have limited power to affect change in our lives and not add more and more regulations, then the playing field will be even for all businesses. Free market capitalism only exists when everyone is playing on the same field, with limited restrictions and no government handouts or unfair incentives.

Small business is definitely at a disadvantage to the corporate structure as it has far fewer resources to run itself the way something like Amazon or Facebook may. However, the answer to what small businesses can do is not necessarily expand but multiply in quantity or rather play to the strengths of being a small business.

Small businesses are capable of eating out large corporations because they are flexible and are able to handle customer service better than the corporation automated customer care lines. Small businesses are also more capable of molding their business to meet the wants and needs of their customers.

The main point of this article would be to say while the large corporations are winning the economic dominance race, this does not mean small businesses cannot fight back.

Last Year the Nobel Peace Prize President Obama Dropped 72 Bombs Every Single Day http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/last-year-the-nobel-peace-prize-president-obama-dropped-72-bombs-every-single-day Sun, 15 Jan 2017 08:06:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/last-year-the-nobel-peace-prize-president-obama-dropped-72-bombs-every-single-day Last year, the Commander in Chief of the US Military, President Obama permitted 26,171 bombs to be dropped against perceived foreign targets. That means, every hour of last year, the US dropped at least 3 bombs on enemy targets. That's a lot of enemies.

Over 12,000 bombs were dropped in Iraq, the same amount in Syria and about 2000 in Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen, Somalia and Pakistan. That is seven muslim countries the US military is at war with in one way or another. This statistic makes the United States the most militant country in all of 2016.

Most media outlets will tell you all those bombs were dropped on bad guys, sadly thousands of civilians were hit with these air strikes, creating even more terrorists as a result. None of these targets were found guilty by a jury.

The CIA warned previous administrations of these military actions overseas, referring to a potential "blow back" from these types of incidence.

The Bureau for Investigative Journalism has been tracking civilian deaths for years and they have found the Department of Defence significantly underreports the numbers of civilian deaths by about 6 times the amount.

The attack on al-Tukhar on July 19 is believed to have caused the greatest loss of civilian life of any single US-led Coalition attack. At least 73 civilians were killed, including 27 children, and some 30 were injured.

Amnesty International reported a survivor of the attack at Ayn al-Khan say the following:

My mother, aunt, wife and children – a daughter who was four years old and a son who was two and a half were all killed. The woman and her son who I’d rescued were killed. Everyone but me was killed

In 2012 the Obama regime redefined the way they count civilian casualties. If any military aged male is hit by an airstrike, that person is always considered a military target and not considered a civilian by Department of Defence standards.

In this video Glenn Greenwald schools Bill Maher on the destructive trail left by US foreign policy.

When Obama took office, he claimed he was an anti war candidate. People expected him to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and bring the troops home. Sadly, eight years later he's still dropping thousands of bombs on those countries and several others.

Obama's words garnered him the Nobel Peace prize but his actions have been nothing but peaceful. Contrary to what most mainstream media will tell you, Obama has never lived up to his expectations.

The Nobel Prize has now become a laughing stock. They completely delegitimized their prize when they gave Obama the award without him every doing anything. They were captivated by his message, but his message was anything but aligned with his actions.

Obama has been in perpetual war his entire tenure as President of the United States. That is the longest any US president has ever been at war. So much for the peace president. Hopefully Donald can make an improvement on that statistic.

The following charts show the extent of military campaigns, the US and its allies have engaged in over the last several years. These are charted by Airwars.org from official coalition figures.

Two Airlines Now Offering Flights Between the US and Europe for less than $70 http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/two-airlines-now-offering-flights-between-the-us-and-europe-for-less-than-70 Sat, 14 Jan 2017 22:37:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/two-airlines-now-offering-flights-between-the-us-and-europe-for-less-than-70 Two airlines are now offering flights between Europe and America for only $69. WOW Air (From Iceland) and Norwegian Air said, they can lower ticket prices this much due to them having the latest energy efficient aircrafts, the strengthening US dollar and the recent decline in jet fuel prices.

When fuel prices were at a high several years ago, there was an increased incentive for airplane manufacturers to produce more fuel efficient airplanes. Airlines are now reaping the rewards of the innovation that caused and those rewards are now being passed on to everyday consumers.

All this, without any carbon taxes, without any government regulations or incentives. This came about because of free market capitalism, our favorite phrase.

Some countries like Canada are trying to implement carbon taxation. What do you think will happen to these low prices as a result?

Instead of making it costly to use carbon and hurt everyday producers and consumers, the best solution is to let the free market solve our problems. Wow Air and Norwegian Air show how this is possible.

When the government takes money from these hard working producers, they will be less able to innovate and find solutions to real life problems. Like Ringo Star once said:

Everything the government touches, turns to crap.

Before you book your discount flight, you should know these ticket prices are for one-way tickets only. These are offered in limited quantities and layovers may occur. Nonetheless, this is great news for travellers.

If you are interested in booking one of these low cost flights, here are a few things you need to know.

No Assigned Seating

These discount fares might be more for the solo travellers, since it allows the airlines to place you where they want. You can pay extra if you want to choose your seat, but we think most people probably wouldn't care too much.

A Real Possibility of Delayed Flights

Both cariers offering the discounted fares have a limited number of aircraft capable of making the long cross atlantic flight. WOW flies seven Airbus A321 and three Airbus A330, and Norwegian flies 12 Boeing 787 Dreamliners (with 20 more ordered). In other words, if one flight is cancelled or delayed, there won't really be a replacement coming along as easily as a major carrier would do.

Possible Layovers

This might actually be a good thing. Wow Air has every flight stopping in Reykjavik, Iceland before continuing on to either America or Europe. However, they also allow travellers to take an extended layover of several days before continuing on their journey.

Norwegian Air flies directly to London, Oslo, Stockholm, and Copenhagen, so if your travels take you elsewhere, you'll need a connecting flight.

There's No Free Lunch

If you don't have any snacks with you and need some food, you'll have to pay for it. That isn't necessarily out of the ordinary though. Most travellers are used to that by now.

Wi-fi and Entertainment Options Will Vary

Norwegian Air offers free Wi-fi and even free in flight entertainment that is supposed to be quite good. If you are flying the Icelandic route, however, Wow Air has no Wi-fi available or entertainment package, so make sure you utilize Netflix's new download feature before boarding.

When we find successes in the free market, everybody wins. Not only is this good for these airlines in increasing their customer bases, but it's also great publicity for them. Obviously this is also a win for consumers. Who wouldn't want to pay 70 bucks for a flight to the other side of the world?

Czech citizens are getting a Second Amendment of their own... against terrorists. http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/czech-citizens-arm-themselves-to-fight-terrorism Sat, 14 Jan 2017 17:46:00 +0000 Paul Henry http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/czech-citizens-arm-themselves-to-fight-terrorism The Czech Republic already has lenient gun laws. Applicants must; have no criminal record, prove they are over 21, and pass a firearms questionnaire.

As a result, more than 300, 000 Czechs are licensed to carry a gun. There are over 800,000 firearms registered in the country.

Last week, the Czech Government announced proposals to amend the Constitution, to grant individuals the right to use their weapons against terrorists.

Interior Minister Milan Chovanek, who introduced the bill, is confident the bill will pass before the October elections.

The proposal is pretty simple. The state cannot respond to a terrorist attack quickly enough to ensure public safety.

But free, armed individuals can. This constitutional law would give them the legal authority to do so.

If only more people realized the fact that government will not always be there to protect us. Free people need to be able to defend themselves from vigilantes. Terrorists and crazy people attack gun free zones for a reason.

This development in the Czech Republic is worth following, and advancing. It not only provides the public safety, but also the individual the freedom he deserves.

After all, how can a “free” state exist when individual citizens are enslaved to the tyrannical will of organized aggressors? It cannot.

Syrian Army Compound Bombed: Israel Accused of Supporting Terrorism http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/syrian-army-compound-bombed-israel-accused-of-supporting-terrorism-1 Sat, 14 Jan 2017 16:47:00 +0000 Paul Henry http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/syrian-army-compound-bombed-israel-accused-of-supporting-terrorism-1 In the early hours of Friday the 13th, the Mezzeh Airport compound, just west of Damascus, was attacked. It is unknown if there were any casualties at this stage.

Immediately, the Syrian state news agency, SANA, accused Israel of perpetrating the attacks – condemning Israel for what it called ‘support of terrorist groups’.

The compound is believed to be a military base for operations of the elite Syrian Revolutionary Guard against rebels around Damascus.

It is located a mere 3 miles from the Presidential Palace – the official residence of the Syrian President Basshar Al Assad.

The Syrian Army Command continued the attack on destabilizing foreign influence with the following statement:

"The Syrian Army Command and armed forces warn the Israeli enemy of the repercussions of this blatant attack and stresses it will continue its war on terrorism and amputate the arms of the perpetrators".

It is the third time in recent months that Israel has been accused of targeting Syrian government positions without ever attacking the rebel/terrorist groups within that country. It is clear they want the Syrian government to be replaced or at least to be weakened.

The Israeli Government has not responded to the claims.

The Associated press made the following statement in regards to the incident:

"Residents of Damascus reported hearing several explosions that shook the city. The Mezzeh airport compound, located on the southwestern edge of the capital, had been used to launch attacks on rebel-held areas near Damascus and has come previously under rebel fire. ...

Oddly enough, most of the American mainstream media has not picked up this story or reported on it at all.

Syria is currently a quagmire, with Russia (and Turkey to some degree) supporting the Syrian government in defending itself against foreign aggression. America previously destabilized Iraq leading to the rise of Al queda 2.0 (ISIS) in the region and offering military weaponry to groups associated with that terrorist organization.

Now with obvious signs Israel is trying to influence the outcome of the situation, there is little to think the bloodshed will stop anytime soon. Perhaps the new American leadership can help end the fighting in that part of the world.

Guccifer 2.0 Claims Responsibility for Hacking DNC Computers, Not Russians http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/guccifer-2-0-claims-responsibility-for-hacking-dnc-computers-not-russians Sat, 14 Jan 2017 06:02:57 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/guccifer-2-0-claims-responsibility-for-hacking-dnc-computers-not-russians The infamous hacker known as Guccifer 2.0 has come out of hiding and slammed the US intelligence report about Russian involvement in the hack on the DNC servers, saying it was "crude fake" evidence.

The hacker or hacking group admitted breaching the DNC computer network by easily exploiting a software vulnerability and deny any ties with Russia, or Putin.

For over a month, the US administration and intelligence community has placed blame on Russia for the hack, claiming they attempted to influence the US elections.

Donald trump seems to have taken the bait, saying in his last press conference, "it was probably Russia". However, he has repeatedly stated that Hillary Clinton lost the election because she was campaigning in the wrong states and that the hack had nothing to do with the outcome of the election.

Recently John McAfee, the well known cyber security expert has analyzed the FBI claims and called them false, saying "America is being propagandized by the FBI against Russia".

On Thursday, the lame duck president sent 3000 troops to Poland as a show of force against Russia, which seems to have angered Putin. Before that, they expelled 35 Russian diplomats, and a chef, claiming they were spies.

“These actions threaten our interests, our security,” President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said. “Especially as it concerns a third party building up its military presence near our borders. It’s not even a European state.”

What can the US intelligence community stand to gain from antagonizing Putin? Why are they trying to start a war with him. The US military seems to regularly start conflicts around the globe. An unused military is one that doesn't need much funding. But when their is a threat of war, then the money starts flooding in.

It is quite obvious this is becoming a false flag event and Russia did not hack the DNC. The US intelligence community is making up this false claim that they did. We hope the American public is smart enough to turn off the Clinton News Network (CNN) so they can see this truth.

Amazon to Create 100,000 Jobs Over the Next 18 Months http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/amazon-to-create-100-000-jobs-over-the-next-18-months Fri, 13 Jan 2017 23:53:41 +0000 Oliver Goodman http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/amazon-to-create-100-000-jobs-over-the-next-18-months Amazon has announced it will create 100,000 jobs over the next 18 months. Currently Amazon has about 268,900 employees and will look to increase that figure to 368,900 by mid-2018.

The Seattle-based tech giant is looking to create the aforementioned jobs across the United States. The Jobs will range from software developers and engineers to entry-level positions and will include full benefits.

Amazon is believed to be posting for skilled positions rather than entry-level positions, however. According to current job postings by Amazon, there are 11,128 positions available in the technology sector, which is the area of the business with most openings.

It seems that there will still be a very large increase in the fulfillment center positions. Currently, there are only 1,291 jobs available in the fulfillment center sector showing a need for increase.

The Reason for belief in the posting of positions in the fulfillment sector of Amazon is due to the fact that there are currently a large amount of fulfillment centers being constructed in California, Texas, and New Jersey for the coming growth of the company.

Also, Amazon has a bit of an unfortunate track record when it comes to their treatment of their employees.

Incidents of riffs with employees include: labor disputes over working conditions and pay, reports of oppressive working conditions, and three class action lawsuits by drivers of the company over federal labor law abuses.

There is concern that the e-commerce site will be taking away the jobs of retail workers who compete with Amazon who make up one out of every eight jobs in the United States. Retail giants such as Macy’s and Sears reported less than ideal sales following the holiday season while Amazon are growing.

Many attribute this to the convenience of online buying, something that Amazon is a forerunner of. The shift in the way business is from retail to online shows that affect that the free market has on the change of business in the United States.

Medical Emergency in Germany; Lawmaker Wants the State to Cover Prostitution Expenses for the Sick http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/medical-emergency-in-germany-lawmaker-wants-the-state-to-cover-prostitution-expenses-for-the-sick Fri, 13 Jan 2017 06:33:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/medical-emergency-in-germany-lawmaker-wants-the-state-to-cover-prostitution-expenses-for-the-sick The Green Party in Germany has been listening to Marvin Gaye a little too much; Sexual Healing is on their agenda. They propose the government should pay prostitution bills for those who are disabled and seriously ill.

A Green Party MP, Elisabeth, Scharfenbert told a German newspaper that she "could imagine" local authorities "financing sexual assistance".

The patients would have to prove a medical need and show they weren't able to pay to visit a prostitute on their own.

Already legal in the Netherlands, sexual services is considered a medical expense. In Germany however, prostitution became legalized in 2002.

With the growing support of the Green Party in Germany, and the growing attraction of the progressive agenda in Europe, it's likely only a matter of time before this passes.

The Green Party currently has around 8% popular support in Germany and helped to form the coalition government in the last election.

The inevitable direction that government run medical care leads is to these crazy notions of the government taking care of everyones needs in more ways than anyone ever dreamed. These ideas will likely come to the UK and then to Canada and eventually to the US as the green party and liberal policies continue to grow.

A true free market would not have the government pay for abortions, sexual services and the like. With competition and privatization, we would see drastically reduced prices (due to competition), less waste and more efficient running of hospitals.

Innovation would be at the forefront and patients needs would be taken care of far better then what we see currently in government run facilities.

CVS Selling EpiPen's Competitor Product at One Sixth of the Current Price http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/cvs-selling-epipens-competitor-product-at-one-sixth-of-the-current-price Fri, 13 Jan 2017 04:40:00 +0000 Oliver Goodman http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/cvs-selling-epipens-competitor-product-at-one-sixth-of-the-current-price In September of 2016 the medical community, and the United States congress, were appalled when healthcare company Mylan Inc. announced a 500% price increase (now currently at a cost of $608 dollars) for a two-pack of allergy attack saving EpiPens. The free market once again comes to the rescue as CVS has just announced it is selling a generic version of the drug at a sixth of the price.

CVS is the second largest drugstore chain in the United States with over 9,600 stores where the drug is being sold. The move by CVS is important because it eliminates the issue of high cost for those who have no health insurance or those with high deductibles.

CVS will be selling an generic alternative of EpiPen called Adrenaclick; Adrenaclick was only available at select locations up until CVS began selling the product and was retailed at about $200 dollars for a twin pack.

It is crucial also to know that the drug does not last forever once it is purchased; the drug expires anywhere from one year to 18 months after purchase. In that case, individuals who use the one-time use only injector will have to restock on top of the need to make another drug purchase for every 12-18 months that they do not use the injector. This creates a buying cycle that would be astronomical under Mylan's price of the EpiPen.

What CVS has done here is shown the value of the free market solution to fix issues like these. Government regulations, in most cases, harm more people then they help and so we are excited to see the private alternative come through to fix this problem. CVS saw the problem and decided to act fast by using their name and financial resources to make the drug more available to the public.

Although Mylan has been in the press a number of times since September, mainly being slandered, there was no real solution made by other corporations to pounce on the opportunity of selling the product for a cheaper price. Although there was an emergence of a company named Sanofi that too began selling an allergic reaction injector, Sanofi was also selling for relatively the same price.

What is interesting about the Sanofi introduction is that it shows businesses may see the free market as a means to sell their product for a slightly lower cost than the competitor. This goes to prove that slightly different prices are not what is going to gain traction for your company but rather what the consumer needs will affect the company in the end.

While CVS has done a great humanitarian deed to individuals in need of the drug, what they have done for the free market is far greater. Oftentimes in these situations, people call for more government power to fixe these issues, but that usually results in even more problems. Free market capitalism wins this battle.

Obama Just Legalized a Ministry of Propaganda for Donald Trump http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/obama-just-legalized-a-ministry-of-propaganda-for-donald-trump Thu, 12 Jan 2017 07:36:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/obama-just-legalized-a-ministry-of-propaganda-for-donald-trump The latest hysteria put out by the establishment news organizations has been about all of the fake news purportedly coming from alternative media. The big claim is that fake news has convinced millions of Americans to switch their vote and elect Donald Trump.

Two nights before Christmas, Obama capitalized on this hysteria and signed a section 2943 to the Defence Authorization Bill. In it he officially connected the Federal Government with news outlets. Most people already know they have been in collusion to some degree, but now its out in the open.

In George Orwell's dystopian novel called "1984", where the government had full control of peoples lives, a libertarians nightmare, the Ministry of Truth was used to manage and control the lives of the citizenry. The ministry would rewrite history, invent fake stories and manipulate events on a grand scale to make the government appear more appealing than it really was.

This ministry was setup to ensure the public all believed the same things and behaved in an orderly way.

This new bill Obama signed into law is America's Ministry of Truth. You might also call it the Ministry of Propaganda. In the bill, the Department of Defence will now spend $60 million to be handed out to news entities in order to respond to what they deem is propaganda.

In other words, the US government (in fact, the US military) will determine what propaganda is and what is not. They will prop up certain news organizations that fall in line and hand out tax payer money to the ones they favor the most.

Is this the free market? No. This is a scary development in the so-called free world. George Orwell warned us about government overstepping its bounds and envisioned how horrible life would be under that sort of an empire.

Obama just brought us one step closer to an Orwellian nightmare. We only hope Donald Trump read 1984 and will remove that legislation on January 20th or shortly after. He doesn't need that kind of power and ultimately no one should be in control of that sort of power.

Many might draw similarities with this new authorization and the US government's nefarious programs to control its citizenry through Operation Mockingbird. This program was (I use the past tense loosely here) run by the CIA during the post-World War II era and was used to covertly influence national opinion for decades by influencing media in the US and abroad. It did this by secretly planting the CIA's narrative on the unwitting public mind.

A congressional investigation in 1975 brought the program to light. The CIA claimed it would no longer recruit journalists to do its bidding, however, Obama just legalized that program so it no longer has to operate in the shadows. It was likely hidden in plain site with the likes of the establishment media, but now he authorized the government to pay journalists to report articles that are favorable toward the government and its policies.

If you are a liberal, you should be ashamed of the Nobel Peace Prize President that you support, who just handed that power over to a Donald Trump Presidency. We'll see what happens next.

Confidence in Small Business at a 12-Year High http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/confidence-in-small-business-at-a-12-year-high Thu, 12 Jan 2017 05:32:00 +0000 Oliver Goodman http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/confidence-in-small-business-at-a-12-year-high As of December 2016, the National Federation of Independent Business reported that small business confidence was up to 105.8 points, the highest rating since December 2002.

The National Federation of International Business (of NFIB) is an advocacy group that helps support the needs of independent business, protecting them from government interference. The NFIB is the largest small business association in the country.

The twelve-year high is only the tip of the iceberg, however; the NFIB reported that the confidence rating increase between November and December (increasing by 7.4 points) was the highest monthly increase since July 1980

Due to the higher confidence, there has also been an increase in business activities such as capital investment. In fact, a net 50% of firms in December said that they expected the economy to grow.

A large portion of what is causing the increase in confidence is said to be the presidential election results. Many business owners believe that the coming Trump presidency will greatly improve the economy.

This is interesting due to the fact that Trump’s plans for economic reform (which include health care reforms, tax reforms on business, moratoriums on new government regulations) are projected benefit the rich more than the poor.

Perhaps it is not merely confidence in Trump that has inspired business owners but rather a step away from the Obama administration which harmed many small businesses. Under Obama, small businesses were forced to pay health care costs for employees; currently, any startups with 50 or more employees must cover their health costs or be fined $2,000 dollars per employee.

Furthermore, Under Obama six of the seven highest total number of pages of rules and regulations published in a given year in the Federal Register; these regulations give an extreme advantage to corporations that can afford to hire lawyers to make sure that the company is acting within the law.

Also associated with government interference on small business growth is the ability for patent lawsuits to be made so easily by ‘patent trolls.’ The Consumer Technology Association has said, “Eighty percent of patent troll victims are small and medium-size businesses who lack the financial resources to fight the trolls' bogus infringement claims.”
Although there was potential legislation for ending the patent troll lawsuits, Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid ended the proposal.

Whether or not the Trump election is a main catalyst for the confidence increase, there have been improvements in business. UBS reported that smaller businesses reported fewer declining earning (14% in December versus 20% in November).

These confidence indicators are hoped to play out to an improved economy for small business in America, which had not been a trend as of late with only a net 12% of firms in November that said they’d expected the economy to grow.

New National and State Proposals to Solve the Student Debt Crisis http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/new-national-and-state-proposals-to-solve-the-student-debt-crisis Wed, 11 Jan 2017 23:39:03 +0000 Oliver Goodman http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/new-national-and-state-proposals-to-solve-the-student-debt-crisis The total of student loan debts in the United States is almost at $1.3 trillion dollars and is considered to be the next bubble following the housing bubble that burst in 2008 causing the Great Recession. President Elect Donald Trump, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, and Maryland Governor Larry Hogan believe that they have plans to solve the debt crisis for young graduates.

Donald Trump’s Student Loan Forgiveness Plan

Trump's proposal is to make payments more manageable for graduates; Trump wants loaners to make the graduates monthly payments that are in accordance to the salary earnings of the student. The proposal also says that after a certain period of time the loans would be forgiven per student.

Trump’s plan would make significant decreases to the cost of attending highly endowed universities. The proposal suggests that the university use the endowments it receives to help subsidize costs for tuition, housing, and other costs.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo

Governor Cuomo has proposed a plan that will tackle the issue of debt before they happen; eligible students will be able to attend New York public colleges for no tuition cost.

Eligible students will be those who come from families that earn less than $125,000 per year. The cost of tuition would be covered by supplementing existing state and federal grant programs. Under Cuomo the plan would begin this fall, eligible to students who’s families earn less than $100,00 annually and by 2019 would cover students who come from families earning less than $125,000 per year.

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan

Larry Hogan looks to make life easier for students and graduates who are residents of Maryland. Hogan has announced that under his proposal student loan payments will become tax deductible for students and graduates who earn less than $200,00 dollars (or less than $250,00 dollars per couple).

Hogan’s proposal will also fund caps that limit tuition increases to 2%. One of the main causes of the student loan debt crisis being the continuous increases in tuition making Hogan’s proposal a model example for other states.

Does Canada Need a Brexit of its Own? Equalization Payments are Dividing the Great White North! http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/canada-provincial-welfare Wed, 11 Jan 2017 07:09:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/canada-provincial-welfare Canada has been running an interesting experiment for the last half century, provincial welfare. Wealthier provinces have to donate much of their capital to less wealthy provinces in the form of "Equalization Payments".

Western Canada has typically been the wealthy capitalistic, resource-rich region of the country, where costly social programs and high welfare spending has plagued the east.

A divide is a foot in Canada. Folks in the west feel their money is being syphoned out of their hands for no good reason and propping up anti-capitalistic governments in the east. Many feel there is an unfair wealth drain happening that needs to stop.

This is how it works: most tax revenues go to Ottawa, the nations capital, the nations leaders then redistribute that wealth to a large number of social programs including health care, education and even child care programs in Quebec, the Maritimes and other parts of Canada.

The equalization formula calculates the difference between the per capita revenue yield that each province would obtain using average tax rates and the national average per capita revenue yield at average tax rates. So, any province that is below the national average in per capita provincial income, it receives money and if you are above the average, you receive nothing.

Traditionally, in the west, social programs are not a large focus of governments, perhaps that's why they are far wealthier than the east. Western provinces like Alberta and Saskatchewan, who have large natural resource sectors tend to favor more capitalistic economic views. Leave money in peoples and businesses pockets and they will create more jobs in return. It seems to be working.

Alberta has not received a penny of equalization payments back from the equalization program, yet this century. While Albertan's have paid into it well over $200 billion during that same time period, and several years they even paid $20 billion annually, receiving none in return. In comparison, Quebec receives on average about $10 billion every year.

This year, the program is sending nothing to the 3 western provinces and most of the rest to all of the eastern provinces with by-far, the majority going to Quebec, irking many in the west. With oil rich Alberta and Saskatchewan hurting badly and thousands loosing jobs on a regular basis due to the slumping oil prices, some groups are even calling for separation from the East.

This problem is compounded even more having a Prime Minister who is from Quebec in the east. Canada isn't having a drain the swamp campaign like Donald Trump is, but instead they are filling up the swamp with wealth from western Canada.

Other divisive issues like oil pipelines and environmental regulations are helping to put the 2 halves of the country at odds. Alberta and Saskatchewan's oil revenues are keeping the socialism working in the east, while the east complain about the oil production in the west.

"A government that robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul." - George Bernard Shaw

The Prime Minister has even been planning to add a new carbon tax to the entire country with many in the west complaining about its need and the Saskatchewan Conservative Premier not willing to sign on.

The Saskatchewan Premier, Brad Wall recently tweeted the following graphic emphasizing how little the equalization program does for his province and how much his constituents are contributing to it.

Equalization has been around since 1957 and half of all the money the program has handed out has gone to Quebec. That sum comes to a staggering quarter of a trillion dollars.

During that time, Quebec has always been the biggest beneficiary and has never been a net contributor to the program. With that in mind, the 3 western provinces have received the least amount out of all of the provinces since 1957. Alberta hasn’t received equalization payments since 1965.

With these figures in view, it is a wonder that Canada is still in one piece and that western Canadians allow this craziness to continue. One would have thought there would be riots in the west. Perhaps Canadians are too nice to riot.

From a free market viewpoint we see this as a huge issue allowing bad provincial leaders to continue wasteful programs that are being propped up by successful wealth supporting policies from another part of the country.

If your policies are costly and unproductive, and you don't get bail outs from areas where programs working better, your people will see more evidence of how bad your programs are and vote you out of office in hopes of better fiscal planning with the next government.

We fully support voluntary wealth redistribution. If people in the west want to help their fellow countrymen in the east, then good for them, they should do that voluntarily. The coercion of taxation is not the answer and is obviously helping to divide a great country.

What happens with any welfare program (AKA: wealth redistribution), is you take money out of the hands of productive people and put it into the hands of less productive people. This is an economic drain on those who are productive, it prevents them from creating more jobs, innovating more and creating products that might enrich millions of peoples lives.

Perhaps Canada needs more provincial rights similar to states rights outlined in the American Constitution, or perhaps Canada is just too big and needs to be split up, Brexit style. We'll see what the future holds.

Socialist Venezuela Continues to Wreak Havoc on the Poor http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/socialist-venezuela-continues-to-wreak-havok-on-the-poor Tue, 10 Jan 2017 23:10:53 +0000 Jalieh Rod http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/socialist-venezuela-continues-to-wreak-havok-on-the-poor The president of the Venezuelan Republic has announced a drastic increase in the minimum wage in that country with a 50% increase, the 5th such increase within the last year. This was done in an attempt to shield workers from the worlds fastest growing interest rate which is due to draconian economic planning in that socialist utopia.

Referred to as a Bolivarian Socialist, president Nicolas Maduro announced on his weekly TV and radio program, “to start the year, I have decided to raise salaries and pensions.” This is an idea he had that he thinks will help poor people. The problem is, economic logic dictates, when you make the price of labor more expensive, less of it will be used.

This is the reason governments tax cigarettes and alcohol. They want to discourage the use of it so they make it more costly for people. Sadly, they don't realize the same effect will happen on the price of labor. When you increase the minimum you are allowed to pay workers, you will have less workers.

The government of Venezuela, by way of their socialist leader Nicolas Maduro continue to make a horrible situation even worse. Raising the minimum wage by 50% is a drastic increase that many businesses won't be able to handle. Socialism generally demonizes businesses, thinking they take advantage of people in need, and so Maduro's concern is not for businesses.

He sees the plight of one side of the story, the poor working person. The part he doesn't see is that these poor people need jobs and to do that you need thriving businesses. When you put more and more restrictions on businesses, they won't be able to survive and you will just have more unemployment.

It is obvious that the tyrant that’s representing this socialist disaster is drunk on power, not caring anymore about the population, not even interested in holding the office as the nation's servant, but instead he seeks to continue enriching himself, and his family and “friends” at the expense and ignorance of a few, and the hard work of all.

The republic has descended into a monarchy, where the words of the monarch outweigh the law.

Where everything is possible for some, and almost impossible for everyone else, all of the Venezuelans ignore that this is not a fight against failed policies. It is against the whole violation of the entire system of individual freedom we once had here; against a monarchy that tries to abolish our individuality so the needs of society as a whole can be managed.

When the minimum wage increases, the businesses appeal to a downsizing, not because it is going to enhance inside's operations, but because thanks to the presidential decree it is almost impossible to keep a healthy number of expenses and profit with such policies.

This regime continues to instigate against private property, drowning companies and destroying the notions of improvement and advancement among Venezuelans.

The new currency notes is another illusion for Venezuelans to make them believe they still have a strong currency. But, in fact, it’s just another deception for them, since their currency continues to slide into obscurity.

Annihilating purchasing power, CNN Money couldn’t better exemplify how the currency devaluation and the destructive inflation we suffer is clearly visible with the notes replacement, stating (with some hidden humor):

“Venezuela is replacing its biggest note with a coin”

To restore this nation, a breaking point must take place, and now (more than ever) rebellion is the only immediate way out, since no legal outlet is logical, for they have already completely invalidated the constitution and the rule of law, while justice is sequestered by insatiable desires for power.

Hunger, on the other hand, has overthrown tyrannies more effectively than any other organized mechanism, and history demonstrates it.

We're hoping the great people of Venezuela wake up to the horrors of socialism and invite freedom back into their lives; with it will come prosperity once again to this beautiful country.

How Our Nations Debt Doubled During Obama’s Presidency http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/how-our-nations-debt-doubled-during-obamas-presidency Tue, 10 Jan 2017 08:17:00 +0000 Oliver Goodman http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/how-our-nations-debt-doubled-during-obamas-presidency In 2008 when President Obama took office in January 2009 the National Debt was at $10.6 trillion dollars, as of now the national debt is $19.96 trillion dollars. Speculation is that when Obama leaves the White House on January 20th the debt will reach over $20 trillion dollars.

What is important to understand is that national debt cannot solely be based on President Obama as many of the decisions about spending are decided buy the United States Congress.

Congress

Congress is responsible for making spending decisions on tax and government spending. Both sides of congress (republican and democrat) played a big hand in increasing the debt as they either proposed legislation that increased debt or faili to create legislation that would decrease debt.

How Obama Was Involved

President Obama did however sign certain legislations that made the debt worse. The earliest in his presidency would be the 2009 Stimulus Package that was enacted to counteract the effects on corporations during the great recession. Obama also extended tax cuts from 2001/2002 (making some permanent in 2012), as well as the tax extenders/ominous bill.

Obama was also responsible for the Budget Control Act which increases the debt ceiling $2.8 trillion dollars but is intended to reduce the deficit by $2.3 trillion dollars over the next ten years.

Who is to Blame?

Altogether it can be argued that both Obama and Congress are to blame for the increase in debt. However, it is important to note that when Obama took office the Great Recession had just begun and was always guaranteed to increase the debt tremendously.

It is of note however that the above listed legislations were written by congress and not Obama who merely enacts them. This makes blame not so black and white as one could say ‘Obama should’ve vetoed these acts until ‘better’ processes were thought of.’ Or one could say that ‘congress is not to blame as they were not guided by the president into a more effective legislative plan.’

Factors such as these (as well as inflation) are largely to blame. So, while the debt has nearly doubled since he took office, it is not solely on Obama’s shoulders for causing the increase to happen.

The size of government is the main culprit. Not once in Obamas 8 years was their ever a year they came close to even balancing the budget. The government spent on average, greater than $1 Trillion more, each year, than they took in. That happened because the government is just too darn big.

We advocate for a small limited government that don't spend and inflate us to death. Where lobbyists wouldn't really exist because a limited government can't sway regulations in their favor.

Automation, the power to enrich all of our lives http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/automation-the-power-to-enrich-all-of-our-lives Tue, 10 Jan 2017 07:39:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/automation-the-power-to-enrich-all-of-our-lives The main consensus around the world is that automation is killing jobs and increasing the wage gap. That it is making the rich richer and the poor poorer. To fix that, people have been calling for everyone to be paid a living wage. Doing nothing for an income. Let's see the free markets response to all of this.

When technology improves then the productivity of each worker improves. The amount of output on goods and services that each worker produces will go up. In a true free market system, that would mean, the cost of goods and services will go down.

In this scenario, as technology increases, our standard of living will increase and costs of living should decrease as a result. In other words, things should get better and better as more technology gets developed.

When a person looses their job because of an automated system that is replacing them. For that person, it sucks for the time they are out of work, however, logic dictates for a majority of people, it is a good thing, in that the business would not have made the switch to automation if they could not cut costs as a result.

When they cut costs, they can return that gain back to the consumer. They can cut costs for the consumer and in most cases they do, so long as there is legitimate competition in their industry and there usually is. Competition is always driving prices down so long as they are not propped up by a cartel or favorable government regulations that are preventing legitimate competition from arizing from start ups.

In a lot of cases, the free market is being prevented from functioning as a result of unnecessary government regulation. What we see today is that many of the big companies around us lobby the elites in Washington, Ottawa, London, etc to pass new regulations on their industry.

Now, why would they do that? If you can make it more difficult for the little guy, the entrepreneur with a brilliant idea, the Uber's or the Air B&B's of the world from functioning by imposing a massive overhead dealing with the unnecessary regulations, then you win. Remove the regulations (and the subsidies) and you will even the playing field.

The Free Market Scenario

For a simple example of how consumers will benefit from automation. 100 years ago, dairy farmers had to have dozens of staff in order to milk 100 cows. Today, they have automated machines hooked up to the cows that can do all of that. They now only really need 1 or 2 workers. That cost savings will be passed on to the consumer.

So milk is cheaper to buy with the automation than it would be with the 10 - 20 dairy laborers. This will decrease the living costs by a little bit for a maximum number of people. All of the consumers of milk will have their standard of living go up as a result because they now have more disposable income to spend on other things.

Because of economic analysis, we know for a fact that there is a net benefit to society as a result of this type of automation which counters the net loss to those 10 - 20 farmers. So overall it is good for the majority of people.

A narrow minded person only analyzing the plight of the dairy farmer might say it isn't worth it and might want to ban automation as a result. If you do ban it, progress will stagnate and the majority will not benefit like we outlined above.

This extra money that people now have as a result of buying things at a cheaper cost, now can spend that money on things they never would have before. Such as buying those new fancy hiking boots, surfing lessons, a home renovation, a trip to Hawaii, etc. When people are spending more money on these other things, these other industries will boom as a result causing more jobs etc to be needed in those industries.

The free market will dictate where the jobs should be in this scenario. Automation will constantly be shifting jobs around to different industries. In almost every case automation will create more jobs elsewhere and even some people might not have to work as much because they aren't spending as much money as a result of the savings that automation is bringing them. That less work will even create another job to cover the extra work that you used to do.

The big thing, is if you look at the lives of those individual people who are losing their jobs as a result, then your perspective becomes skewed to the reality that automation creates just as many if not more jobs then the ones that are lost as a result if it.

Someone might say, the savings a company gets, will just sit in the bank and not help anyone else out. A company should be free to do that, but companies always want to grow and expand, its in their nature and their shareholders demand it.

When Apple made their billions on their first iPod, did they bank the profits and stop innovating? They hired more workers produced more ideas they had and the world is a better place because of it.

Profit is not a bad thing, it allows companies to expand their businesses, hire more people, research and innovate which all gets passed on to enriching the lives of millions of consumers everyday.

Free market capitalism does all of that. It increases productivity, drives innovation, increases progress and is really good if it is allowed to work.

The Real World

With all of this progress and innovation why are we not seeing the increased job growth and people not needing to work as much because the cost of living should be dropping incredibly fast? The main reason is the government.

50 years ago a gallon of milk might have cost 5 cents, but now it costs 3 or 4 dollars. What gives? I thought automation was supposed to decrease the price of milk. The answer is inflation.

Inflation is not rising prices. Rising prices are a symptom of inflation. When the government prints money, the value of money goes down. So the government drives the prices of everything up. Inflation hurts poor people way more than it hurts rich people. The government prints money to support the welfare programs and the warfare state it wants to do.

The reason we have a rising wealth gap is because of inflation. The wealthy and the insiders get the full value of newly printed money and by the time it trickles down into the economy and gets to poor people the prices of everything has increased so they see no benefit to the newly printed money.

Also with taxation, When the government funnels productive wealth out of the free market and into government bureaucracy, then you are taking money from a more efficient place and putting it into a less efficient place and its like an anchor on the economy dragging it down.

This is what is happening and sadly, the wealth gap is increasing and will continue to grow as a result of inflation and taxation. However, our government educated world is convincing people that more government is the answer to fix these issues, when logic dictates the free market is the answer.

Just let freedom work and then jobs, technology, productivity, wealth will all increase at a pace that most people have never seen in their lives. We believe in free market capitalism as the best solution for the maximum number of people and automation is a good thing for all of us.

CIA Interrogator: Saddam Had Expected to be Allies with US After 911 Happened http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/cia-interrogator-saddam-had-expected-to-be-allies-with-us-after-911-happened Mon, 09 Jan 2017 18:38:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/cia-interrogator-saddam-had-expected-to-be-allies-with-us-after-911-happened Ten years ago Iraqi President Saddam Hussein was executed after the US invasion done under the false premise that he had stockpiled WMDs and had ties to Al-Qaeda. An explosive new book has just been released from John Nixon, Saddam's CIA Interrogator, revealing a lot of information never heard before.

The invasion of Iraq left it in shambles with over 1 million Iraqi's dead and constant fighting still exists to this day with ISIS (Al-Qaeda 2.0) ruling vast regions of the country.

In his book "Debriefing the President: The Interrogation of Saddam Hussein", Nixon, the first person to interrogate Saddam, indicated that much of what we knew about him and the reason for the invasion was in fact wrong.

He revealed that in 2003, Saddam had handed over much of the power involved in running the country to his senior aids, so he could write a novel. Besides having stopped his WMD program years ago, this fact about his leadership was something the CIA was unaware of, thinking Saddam was pulling all the strings in his country.

He also mentioned that he thought the US and Iraq were natural ally's in the fight against Al-Qaeda and extremism and even believed 911 would have brought the two countries closer together in their fight. He mentioned how Saddam did not have a very good understanding of America or international relations.

He gave Nixon this warning:

"You are going to fail. You are going to find that it is not so easy to govern Iraq. You are going to fail in Iraq because you do not know the language, the history, and you do not understand the Arab mind."

This warning still eqoes true today as the country is a mess with people dying en mass on a regular basis and ISIS controlling much of it.

Nixon said, "Instead of talking to the Butcher of Bagdad, I found myself talking to this aging, Iraqi grandfather". He said Saddam was one of the most charismatic individuals that he's ever met in his life.

"Saddam was very smart, polite and nice and was self deprecating in his humor."

One startling revelation that Saddam gave and was corroborated with Iraqi documents later on was that Saddam never ordered the chemical weapons attack on his own people like was being reported by the US government and mainstream media.

An Iraqi commander made the decision on the battlefield to make the attack. Saddam was furious with him afterwards because the use of the weapons were being used in PUK territory and they were allied with Iran and he was afraid Iran would make a big stink about it with the international media.

What he writes is vastly different then what Americans were being told in the mainstream media.

In his book, Nixon said it was a myth that Saddam used a bunch of look-a-likes to remain hidden. That was fabricated by the media and the intelligence community used to laugh at that.

Saddam told him America is full of a bunch of ignorant hooligans with no clue about Iraq or its culture or people at all.

He mocked at the idea that Iraq had WMD's, pointing out that everyone would know they would not use WMD's as it would mean certain retaliation. He thought it was dumb that Americans would buy the idea that he had any thing to do with Osama Bin Laden at all or use that as a reason to go to war with Iraq.

He said "The spirit of listening and understanding was not there", in reference to how America bought the lies from the mainstream media.

Saddam said, he didn't even exclude himself from that, in other words, he said, "when people aren't trying to listen or understand each other, the facts gets buried and the crap gets stirred". Which is so true for then and now.

And boy did the facts ever get blurred. No one today denies that America went to war with Iraq under false pretenses, just like they did in Vietnam (Gulf of Tonkin incident), and influenced so many other regions destablizing many for decades.

Russia is now the new target of the American intelligence community. We only hope Obama's successor has a brain and uses it. The president usually gets daily briefings of what is happening around the world and they probably scare the pants off him on a regular basis.

Trump has limited his briefings to 1 a week, so maybe we will see sanity come out of the White House for once.

The Demand for Physical Gold Looks to Increase in 2017 http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/the-demand-for-physical-gold-looks-to-increase-in-2017 Mon, 09 Jan 2017 05:22:36 +0000 Oliver Goodman http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/the-demand-for-physical-gold-looks-to-increase-in-2017 As 2017 begins there is heavy speculation that the desire for gold in the United States is going to increase. Reasons for this include domestic and international factors.

The Federal Reserve and Interest Rates

One big reason for the increase for physical demand of gold is the increased interest benchmark federal funds rates that are being increased by the Federal Reserve. Because of the increased rates, there is less opportunity to make a profit off of buying a CD or a Treasury Bond.

In fact, while growth for gold is not guaranteed it is increased by the very notion that it may increase; investors who are now seeing an opportunity for financial gain in physical gold over taking a risk of Federal Reserve rates are projected to chose the precious metal more and are driving the demand for gold higher.

Uncertainty Over the Trump Presidency

One of the main reasons here being the uncertainty of President Elect Donald Trump’s effect on the economy once he takes office on January 20th, 2016. There is concern with Trumps plans for reform on individual and corporate tax structure.

Trump’s plan will see just three tax brackets making domestic business and foreign investment more attractive and is projected to increase the GDP. However, this tax plan will also reduce federal revenue and increase federal debt and is feared that inflation will balloon. With the two projected outcomes between slight growth and increased inflation, many skeptics are predicting that value of gold will be increased by this.

The Indian Economy

A third factor is the growing economy in India. Right now, India is the number one ranked economy for 2017 GDP percentage interest growth. However, much of the citizens of India’s personal wealth is locked in physical gold (most of it in jewelry rather than gold bars).

This does not necessarily help the economy of India and in order to keep their economy growing, the government of India has set massive gold buying initiatives (India has also increased the import tax of gold). Now with gold buying programs and higher import taxes, the amount of gold imported to the worlds second largest gold importing country, India, is likely to fall.

In all, between the increase in interest rates by the Federal Reserve, the uncertainty of the economy under Donald Trump, and the supposed decrease in gold import to India, the desire for gold in the United States is looking to surely increase as 2017 progresses.

Obama is the Food Stamp President Leaving Trump with a Dismal Economy http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/obama-is-the-food-stamp-president-leaving-trump-a-horrible-economy Sun, 08 Jan 2017 08:12:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/obama-is-the-food-stamp-president-leaving-trump-a-horrible-economy The bromance between the mainstream media and President Obama continues as they gave him a sky high report card on the economy right before he leaves office. In reality, he couldn't be leaving President Elect Trump a worse economy then what we see today.

The claim by the MSM has been that when Obama took office in 2009, the economy "was in peril" and was hemorrhaging jobs. That he created millions of jobs and drastically reduced the unemployment rate. They think we should all thank Obama for fixing the economy by creating millions of jobs.

The Real Jobs Report

First of all, the financial crisis, might seem like it is over to some, but it never really ended. If it was over, interest rates would not be near all-time lows like they are today. They would have normalized back to 5 or 6 percent, however they are hovering near 0%, with constant threats of negative rates at some point.

The Labor force participation rate was decimated under Obama and is now at 62.7%, which is the lowest it has ever been. The mainstream media takes the governments word that the unemployment rate is only at 4.6%, which would be a dream for any country in the world.

The truth is, millions of people have stopped looking for work and they don't get counted in those statistics, also millions more people who lost full time jobs have picked up part time jobs working in the restaurant industry, at Walmart or Home Depot type of jobs.

The true unemployment rate if you include discouraged and displaced workers is at an incredible 23%. The following chart from ShadowStats.com shows the real state of unemployment in the US. We would say, this chart more reflects reality on main street rather than the 4.6% figure the government and MSM are peddling.

Food Stamps

When you look at the record number of Americans (44 million) who can't afford to feed themselves and are living on food stamps, you wonder how the mainstream establishment media could overlook these figures. Their love affair with the Nobel Peace Price president seems to have hindered their judgement.

Food stamps are given out to people that can't otherwise afford to feed themselves. It's a horrible statistic when one in every seven Americans are on that list. When Bush left office in the middle of the world crippling recession, less than 32 million Americans were on food stamps.

So, 12 million more Americans can't afford to feed themselves under President Obama. Does that sound like a recovery to you? We don't think so.

We've recently learned that Macy's, Sears and other big name companies have announced major layoffs. This indicates commerce is not doing so well in the country, yet the stock market is at an all-time-high.

The biggest problem with the economy that we harp on at Free Market Capitalism is the massive increase in the national debt which is now hovering around a staggering $20 Trillion. Under President Obama's reign, that figure doubled from when he took office.

Meaning, Obama borrowed as much money as every president before his reign combined. Bush left office with a $10 Trillion number and that was after 2 major money sucking wars. Obama has made the bankers proud, and lined their pockets with some nice juicy interest payments from now to infinity because that debt will never be repaid.

It is virtually impossible to pay it off. But Obama won't have to worry about that when he's sipping Mai Tai's and playing Golf in Hawaii for the rest of his life.

The problem when countries like the US borrow money from a central bank is, not only do they have to pay it back at interest but it devalues their currency. When their is a lot of something, that something becomes less valuable. So your big mac and fries now costs a little bit more. Your Lululemon pants cost a bit more as well.

Generally your pay check doesn't keep up with the inflation caused by all of the government induced inflation happening. This is a hidden tax that politicians don't like to talk about, but whenever they borrow money, the bankers fire up the printing presses and secretly taxing you by weakening the purchasing power of any money you have in the bank.

It is horrible for poor people and horrible for those in retirement as it costs them that much more just to survive. This is a big reason why socialism does not work. You have to borrow a ton of money in order to "help the poor people", but when you do that, you are really just making life more difficult on them.

This is likely one of the big reason why we see such an increase in people on food stamps. It just costs so much more to feed their families now.

If you want to help poor people, have a small government that doesn't cost that much to run. Do not tax people or businesses hard earned money, let them keep it all. The more money people have, the more they're free to pursue their business ideas and create jobs and even hire people. Less people will be working for "The Man", and more people for themselves. This was once called the American Dream, something people only reminisce about now.

What's really going on

When the stock market is up, the mainstream media announces how well the economy is doing. The problem is, it has been indicated by some that the private Federal Reserve Bank is the one that is artificially buying stocks and futures in the US stock market in order to give a false signal that everything is ok.

To be fair to President Obama, he isn't entirely to blame. Congress continues to extend the debt ceiling and passing bills that in-debt the US without restraint mainly due to its ever increasing warfare/welfare state. The issue is not a single party issue but a systemic issue, one both parties equally contribute to.

With interest rates at all-time lows and the Federal Reserve deathly afraid to raise it any more than a quarter percent in fear of bursting the bubble, the US debt at levels no one can even fathom, record high numbers of people on food stamps, record high numbers of people that are not in the workforce, you know something isn't right.

The mainstream media is peddling fiction giving the president an A+ jobs report and a pat on the back for recovering the economy. In reality, he left a mess and a huge bubble that will soon burst and blamed on Donald Trump.

We don't see much he can do to fix it, but we're pretty sure what he does will probably hurt more in the long run but might help temporarily just like Bush and Obama before him.

If it wasn't for the US having the petrodollar, they could never get away with printing as much money as they do without going into Venezuelan hyperinflation territory. That's why they are doing everything in their power to protect it at all cost, even creating wars in every part of the world.

The day they loose the petrodollar status will likely be the day America ceases to be the main super power in the world and we think America might not survive in the same form that we see it in today, when that happens. Debt has been the main catalyst in bringing down all the major super powers in the past and the same thing is happening before our eyes today in America, and most of the west for that matter.

We advocate for small limited governments, free markets and voluntary exchanges with no coercion of taxation. The free market capitalistic approach is the only model that will succeed in raising the standard of living for the most amount of people in this world.

Canadian Judge Suspended for Wearing Donald Trump Hat http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/canadian-judge-suspended-for-wearing-donald-trump-hat Sun, 08 Jan 2017 04:43:44 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/canadian-judge-suspended-for-wearing-donald-trump-hat A Canadian judge from Hamilton, Ontario who wore the recognizable red "Make America Great Again" hat has been suspended. The incident was meant to be a joke towards his fellow Clinton supporting judges, however the joke wasn't taken kindly by everyone as he is now not allowed to try any more cases.

The day after Donald Trump won the US presidential election Justice Bernd Zabel walked into his courtroom, in the morning, wearing the hat. He took it off when he sat down. He did it again after the morning break.

An Ontario Court of Justice spokeswoman said, "Justice Zabel stopped being assigned to preside in court December 21, 2016", indicating it was not something the court approved of doing.

It was reported that Zabel, shortly after the incident, said, "Brief appearance with the hat. Pissed off the rest of the judges because they all voted for Hillary so ... I was the only Trump supporter up there, but that's OK."

Many of Zabel's critics didn't take kindly to his remarks saying it undermines his apology that the hat was meant to be a joke.

"We are also filing a supplementary complaint to highlight that his in-court Nov. 9 statement is compelling evidence that he wore the Trump hat as a political statement and endorsement of Trump's values and ideology," a University of Waterloo law professor said in an email.

A similar situation involving a Hamilton city official showing off his Trump hat has drawn public criticism. David Serwatuk, a member of Hamilton city council's Committee of Adjustment had the hat sitting on the table during a meeting on November 17th.

Hamilton's Mayor Fred Eisenberger and others indicated the setting was inappropriate for "any kind of political posturing." Serwatuk later apologized for the incident.

Obama Spent Over $85 Million on Vacations While in Office http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/president-obamas-vacation-expenses-totaled-at-a-cost-of-about-85-to-90-million-dollars Sat, 07 Jan 2017 07:58:00 +0000 Oliver Goodman http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/president-obamas-vacation-expenses-totaled-at-a-cost-of-about-85-to-90-million-dollars While George W. Bush was slammed repeatedly for the amount of time he spent on vacation (with 490 days spent at his ranch in Texas) the amount of money that has been spent on Barrack Obamas vacation time greatly exceeds Bush’s.

In all, it is estimated that Obamas vacations have cost about $85 million dollars. This is a low figure and it is believed that when results are finally totalled, the price tag will be around $90 million dollars. Americans have begun to ask: why does a vacation cost so much and who is paying for this?

It is reported that the total cost of the Obama’s annual vacations to Hawaii have cost United States taxpayers $35 million dollars.

President Obama has been reported to stay in resorts with his family that cost anywhere from $5,000 to $10,000 pre night. This type of gluttonous spending is outrageous and unnecessary. While a vacation is needed for any hardworking individual, the cost of Obama’s (28 vacations over the span of 277 days) is simply unacceptable.

The costs here contrast greatly to Bush’s vacations as he would travel to properties he owned and would therefore not at all be spending lodging fees. Like Bush, President-Elect Donald Trump is expected to spend his vacations at properties he owns as well.

The totals are also accumulated largely in the cost of flying to Obama family on the Presidential airline, Air Force One. Reports show that it costs on average $180,118 per hour to fly and operate the president’s plane.

The bill does not stop there however, the taxpayers also must cover the cost of the Secret Service while they travel with the president. A report stated that the bill for the secret services travel expenses for a 2015 Obama family Hawaii vacation cost 1.2 million dollars.

On top of the secret service costs, a presidential excursion must also pay for the travel costs of armoured cars, helicopter(s), presidential aids, car rentals, etc. Now, while many of the air force one trips are indeed business related, not all flights carry the president and are open to use by members of the presidents close family.

Presidents do get paid a salary every year and so this has become a gross mismanagement of taxpayers hard earned money. There needs to be a limit to how much the tax payer should be on the hook for in regards to presidential vacation habits.

Hopefully, under the Trump administration far less will be spent on vacation time at the cost of the taxpayers.

Fake News Journalists at Washington Post Invent Russian Hacking Story on US Power Grid http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/fake-news-journalists-at-washington-post-invent-fake-russian-hacking-story Sat, 07 Jan 2017 04:31:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/fake-news-journalists-at-washington-post-invent-fake-russian-hacking-story The Russian hacking scandal has been in the news a lot lately. Mostly because of the fake news coming out of places like the Washington Post who made up a false story about Russians hacking into the US power grid in Vermont.

They said, an anonymous source from the Department of Homeland Security gave them that information. Why would a transparent government need to remain anonymous is a mystery to us, but their story said the following.

"Officials said that it is unclear when the code entered the Vermont utility's computers, and that an investigation will attempt to determine the timing and nature of the intrusion, as well as whether other utilities were similarly targeted."

The problem with the story is the Washington Post included no statement from the utility company in question. So they didn't even verify the anonymous sources claim.

Mike Kanarick from the utility company, later made this statement,

"We detected the malware in a single Burlington Electric Department laptop not connected to our organization's grid systems. We took immediate action to isolate the laptop and alerted federal officials of this finding."

So the malware was found in a single laptop that was not connected to the power grid. The malware found on the laptop is available for purchase online, meaning anyone in the world could have used it. So there is no reason to place blame on the Russians, like what the Washington Post's article said.

It's likely what happened is an employee using that laptop accessed a website that was affected with malware and it transferred to the laptop in question. Though millions of Americans read the initial story fearing the Russians were hacking into their country, five days later the Washington Post made an apologetic statement saying,

"The Post initially reported incorrectly that the country's electric grid had been penetrated through a Vermont utility."

DHS had initially leaked the story but just because the story comes from the government, doesn't mean it should be taken as absolute truth. Everything needs to be vetted.

The Washington Post took DHS's word without verifying the basic facts. That's fake news at its finest.

John McAfee says America is being Propagandized by FBI against Russia http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/john-mcafee-says-america-is-being-propagandized-by-fbi-against-russia Fri, 06 Jan 2017 14:59:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/john-mcafee-says-america-is-being-propagandized-by-fbi-against-russia Cybersecurity expert John McAfee claims the most deceptive propaganda to date has just been perpetrated on the American public by the FBI and Homeland Security about their analysis that Russia hacked the DNC servers.

Even though the FBI never accessed the DNC servers in question and Wikileaks claims they did not get the hacked data from Russia, they still place blame on Russia for the alleged hack on their servers.

The FBI and Homeland Security put together something called the Grizzly Step Report which claims Russia hacked the DNC servers. The report mentioned 4 reasons for blaming Russia:

1) Russian language was found in the malware.
2) A Cyrillic keyboard was used to develop it.
3) The compiler timestamps were in a Moscow timezone.
4) An IP address used was tracked back to Russia

McAfee outlined how any of those 4 items missed by the hackers indicate that it was not Russia since those are obvious items a good hacker would remove before executing any such hack to remove ties back to its source. Russia would be smarter than leaving that kind of a trace back to itself.

He indicated the evidence is not just flimsy but possibly propaganda on the part of the US intelligence community in order to anger the American people against Russia, for some reason.

The malware used to hack into the DNC was a year and a half old and has been improved upon during that time, so it makes you wonder why would Russia use old malware where they could have used a newer, better version of that program.

McAfee believes the malware usage indicates it was likely done by an independent one person kid who downloaded the malware and used it to hack into the DNC servers, not Russian operatives.

The FBI claims the malware software came from 2 different organizations (APT28 and APT29) related to the Russian government. This is in fact a false statement because those groups are not just composed of Russians but of kid hackers from all around the world.

For the FBI to mislead the public that it is a Russian intelligence group indicates an insidious propaganda effort by the US intelligence community to galvanize public support against Russia.

With memories back to Colin Powell convincing the UN Security Council and American people that Iraq had WMDs and wanted to use them, is the American public being convinced of another lie by US elites to fabricate a new foe, one a lot more dangerous than Iraq?

Since the establishment media has bought into this lie, it will make it more difficult for President elect Donald Trump to publicly ignore the FBI's claims. Donald Trump has stated his intentions to reorganize the US intelligence community, and now it's obvious why he wants to do that.

Startling Report Shows that the Majority of Syrian Rebels Have Ties or Direct Affiliation to Jihadist Movement http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/startling-report-shows-that-the-majority-of-syrian-rebels-have-ties-or-direct-affiliation-to-jihadist-movement Thu, 05 Jan 2017 19:46:00 +0000 Oliver Goodman http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/startling-report-shows-that-the-majority-of-syrian-rebels-have-ties-or-direct-affiliation-to-jihadist-movement A report by the Telegraph (a UK news source) has estimated that roughly 60,000 to 65,000 of the rebels fighting against the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad’s in Syria are either Jihadists or are linked to heavily Islamic leaning factions.

With there being about 100,000 rebels fighting the Assad regime this means that the majority of rebels are either specifically fighting for Jihad or are at least likely fighting against the Assad regime for control in their region, rather than to restore the human rights that have been abolished under Assad.

The problem that the United States faces in this arena is a moral dilemma because of the fact that the United States has been supplying the rebels with arms. The fear being that if and when the Assad regime is overthrown, the rebels who are linked to Islamic protocol will use said arms to further the Islamic agenda in the region.

One of the major groups that are involved in the rebel movement is the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Shams (ISIS). ISIS has been featured in international news often lately as a militia terrorist group that has been credited with committing atrocities in the Middle East.

It has become increasingly difficult for the United States to continue to back the rebels in good faith who are largely consisted of non-secular factions. What is important to keep in mind though is that if the United States were to withdraw its backing, less necessary support goes to the rebels putting a victory in serious doubt.

This all becomes harder to walk away from especially after Syrian rebels had surrendered the city of Aleppo on Tuesday, December 13th.

There is fear that if a majority of the rebels that overthrows Assad are leaning towards Islamic tendencies then the overthrow will be based around installing an Islamic based territory with a good chance of Sharia Law being instituted.

This would be counterproductive in the sense that the Western aim of backing the overthrow was to remove a totalitarian government that severely infringed on the human rights of those living under his regime, while ISIS is more or less known as a terrorist organization that is based in Iraq and Syria.

The Straits Times reports that ISIS “follows an extreme interpretation of Islam which is anti-Western, promotes sectarian violence and targets those that do not agree with its interpretations as infidels and apostates” Alex Johnson of NBC News writes that “ISIS' stated goal is to restore the "caliphate" — an Islamic state under the rule of a community of religious scholars guided by a supreme leader, the caliph or khalifah, which is generally taken to mean the successor to the Prophet Muhammad.”

ISIS has been accused of crimes against humanity in situations such as “mass atrocities and war crimes” by the United Nations in 2014 as well as religious prosecution against persons with different religious beliefs (mainly of “Shia Muslims, indigenous Assyrian, Chaldean, Syriac and Armenian Christians, Yazidis, Druze, Shabaks and Mandeans” in particular). In June of 2014 ISIS issued a statement that declared Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi to be the successor of Muhammad and therefore the leader of ISIS.

Scientists Agree, the Sun is Warming the Earth Not CO2 http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/scientists-agree-the-sun-is-warming-the-earth-not-co2 Thu, 05 Jan 2017 08:30:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/scientists-agree-the-sun-is-warming-the-earth-not-co2 For decades we've been bombarded by mainstream media reports about how evil CO2 is and how man's use of it is causing climate changes that will eventually kill off civilization and possibly end the human race all together.

Politicians have bought the hysteria, and are using it to their advantage to take more money out of peoples pockets and fund insane programs that once never existed. Many western governments are beginning to tax CO2 production under the slogans of "Carbon Tax" or "Cap and Trade".

Many US states have introduced carbon tax initiatives and Canada has recently introduced carbon tax legislation in some provinces (Alberta and Ontario) and federally a new tax is being introduced.

Scientific Evidence

The science (and countless scientists) however, tells a vastly different picture than what is being told in the mainstream media. Sure, the earths temperatures and CO2 have gone up over the last 60 years, but they've actually been going up since the last mini ice age ended about 300 years ago. That's right, we've been coming out of an ice age, so you would expect the earth to be warming.

Carbon Dioxide has existed on this planet since the beginning of time. It is produced from all living matter on this planet, even the ocean produces it. Humans make a fractional spec of difference in the overall CO2 levels in our atmosphere. Volcanic activity produces far more CO2 than humans; so do animals.

But why would CO2 be bad if all life on the planet produce and need it and even plants grow larger and more abundantly when more CO2 exists in the environment? The secret is, CO2 is not an evil in our world, you and I and everyone else on this planet are made of carbon dioxide, it is how things grow and it is actually good to have, we should want more of it.

Most (non-political) scientists have discovered, the large ball of heat in the sky is the main cause of temperature changes on Earth. When there is more solar activity fewer clouds are formed allowing the earth to heat up more because it is being bombarded more by solar heat. Science indicates the sun has been less active during ice ages then when the earth was warmer.

When the earth is warmer, life on earth is more abundant. Just compare vegetation on the equator to that in the arctic for evidence of that. The cherry on top of all this is... when more life exists on the planet, more CO2 is produced and thrown into our atmosphere.

The historical records show vast changes in the earths climate. When the earth is warming, the CO2 levels rise, but they don't rise until the earth has warmed. CO2 changes always follow temperature changes. The science actually sounds very simple, and it is, but many have bought the MSM narrative including politicians, that a so-called 97% of scientists agree on global warming.

The 97% Argument

That statistic couldn't be further from the truth. In fact 97% of people who claim the 97% statistic have no idea where that statistic came from. An Australian climate change activist, John Cook looked at 12,000 papers on climate change and found that 97% of them mentioned CO2 is a greenhouse gas or that human activity has warmed the planet to some degree or another.

Greenhouse gasses are not all bad though, we need them to survive on this planet. The conclusion of the study was that 97% of scientists believe CO2 was causing climate change.

The study is obviously misleading but politicians and media have pushed the notion so hard that sceptics are demonized to the point that scientists are afraid to challenge the consensus in fear of losing funding or even their job.

Scientists in our day have become what Priests centuries ago used to be. They are the experts and we should just take whatever they say as God's truth, anyone who goes against what they say is labelled a heretic and ostracized.

Environmental Politics

In Alberta, Canada, the provincial government who recently introduced a new carbon tax has criticized the opposition Wild Rose parties environment critic for saying, "the science isn't settled." The socialist government has even requested him to be  replaced calling him a "Climate Change Denyer." The Alberta environment minister said,

"And despite the fact that the science is settled, the evidence is real, it is overwhelming, and they continue to trade in falsehoods and conspiracy theories. Albertans deserve better and and I believe they should have better from their opposition."

The truth is, you can find countless scientists that deny that CO2 has any significant impact on the temperature of the earth but most will agree CO2 is produced to a greater degree when the earth warms.

Global warming activists are even trying to prevent growth around the world because they are afraid of creating more CO2, in so doing they are stifling developing nations from getting out of poverty. Greenpeace co-found said environmental activists are anti-human because they are preventing growth in developing nations.

In turn, we are now starting to get taxed, and taxed heavily for driving our cars or heating our homes because politicians want more of our hard earned money.

Big Government

We at Free Market Capitalism are against all forms of taxation as they coercively stifle productive businesses and people from achieving their God given potential. When you take money out of productive hands you prevent them from building better and more efficient products that we can all enjoy and use to enrich our lives and you also prevent them from hiring more workers.

Taxation is one of the worst kind of cancer that exists in our society. If you want to fund something, start a Go Fund Me campaign and have people voluntarily support it. If Obama or Trump want to send $36 Billion to Israel or Canadian PM Justin Trudeau wants to write a $2.65 Billion cheque to aid developing nations to fight climate change, they should only be allowed to do so on a voluntary basis. People work hard for that money and politicians just give it away to something they think is worth while.

Currently democracy allows the 51% to force the other 49% to hand over their hard earned money, and however much they decide, in order to fund political projects they may not agree to. Democracy in the west is broken. The US founding fathers had a superb idea for how democracy could work for everyone.

They wanted a limited government, one that couldn't affect our lives very much at all. It's role was to protect people from aggressors, that's it really. Where the government feared the people, not the other way around. The entire purpose of the US Constitution was to protect the citizens from the government, but that document has become an annoyance for politicians and they simply executive order it away.

Thomas Jefferson once said, "The natural progress of things is for the government to gain ground and for liberty to yield."

They weren't involved in nation building, education, healthcare, energy, urban development, etc. The free market would dictate the progress of the nation and it worked beautifully in the early part of the new world. Not so much anymore., now that we are bombarded with government regulations and endless taxation.

The Solution

Free market capitalism is the solution to our problems. CO2 generated global warming is a myth and a false one at that. CO2 is created because of an active sun heating our planet.

Our earth has warmed slightly over the last 60 years but so have other planets in our solar system, go figure. With billions of dollars at stake in the scientific and journalism communities, it will be a tough fight, but hopefully more people will just look at the data and question the establishment narrative.

For a wonderful in-depth visual explanation of much of the science and politics behind this debate, we recommend you watch the following documentary.

Foreigners Grope at least 16 Women During Austrian New Years Celebrations http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/foreigners-sexually-assault-16-austrian-women-during-new-years-celebrations Thu, 05 Jan 2017 01:30:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/foreigners-sexually-assault-16-austrian-women-during-new-years-celebrations At least 16 sexual assaults were reported in a popular square during New Years Celebrations in Innsbruck and various other cities in Austria. A group of about 5 or 6 men under the age of 30, all having dark hair and beards attempted to grope and kiss 11 women in Innsbruck.

The popular alpine tourist destination for great architecture and skiing, now has seen a similar fate to what Hamburg Germany experienced the year before.

A police spokesman told Reuters, "It has definitely been proven that they are foreign," adding witnesses reported they spoke English or poor German. "We are investigating. We have videos of poor quality but we are trying to make the best of them."

The women all said that they were assaulted by a group of dark-haired men who appeared to be under the age of 30, and that most of them had beards. Most of the assaults happened between 11.30pm and 1.30am in Marktplatz, when the noise and excitement was at a peak.

A further four women have reported that they were sexually assaulted during New Year’s Eve celebrations in the city of Salzburg. A 31-year-old German woman told police that she was harassed by an 18-year-old asylum seeker who appeared to be very drunk and repeatedly tried to kiss her, before grabbing her between the legs.

In the southern Austrian city of Graz, a 26-year-old woman told police that she was sexually harassed and assaulted by two men in the city center early on New Year’s Day. She said that they grabbed her buttocks and crotch but that she managed to run away and called the police. She said that both men appeared to be foreigners and were under the age of 35.

As more and more refugees continue to stream in from various North African countries, many Europeans are beginning to turn from their once liberal view of immigration, in favor of protecting their culture and lifestyle.

Will European and Canadian leaders continue to let in mass amounts of North African refugees? Time will tell.

Oliver Stone Rips MSM for Fake News about Russian Aggression http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/oliver-stone-rips-msm-for-fake-news-about-russian-aggression Wed, 04 Jan 2017 20:19:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/oliver-stone-rips-msm-for-fake-news-about-russian-aggression Oscar winning director of Platoon and Born on the Fourth of July and a Vietnam War veteran has accused the mainstream media of generating fake news reports about Putin and Russia. In a December 29th Facebook post he outlined how Donald Trump is "target number one of the MSM propaganda".

Stone, having voted for Obama twice, is not a supporter of Donald Trump but has seen the history the MSM has played in shaping the outcome of conflicts.

His assertion is they are building up stories to the point that Trump will need to side with them and start the cold war all over again. He fears what

“As the ‘failing’ (to quote Trump) New York Times degenerates into a Washington Post organization with its stagnant Cold War vision of a 1950s world where the Russians are to blame for most everything — Hillary’s loss, most of the aggression and disorder in the world, the desire to destabilize Europe, etc.the Times has added the issue of ‘fake news’ to reassert its problematic role as the dominant voice for the Washington establishment…. I’ve never read such hysterical junk in the New York Times (call it what it is — ‘fake news’), in which the editorials have become outrageous diatribes of alleged crimes by Russia…When one group-think controls our national conversation, it becomes truly dangerous…”

Stone's take on American history already diverges from the mainstream's narrative of America being the protector of liberty around the globe.

In his Netflix documentary series entitled, "The Untold History of the United States", he offers an alternative take on modern American history, focusing on underreported events that shaped the nation's character.

His post goes on to say how Russia would be insane to want war...

"As much as I may disagree with Donald Trump (and I do) he’s right now target number one of the MSM propaganda -- until, that is, he jumps to the anti-Kremlin track because of some kind of false intelligence or misunderstanding cooked up by CIA. Then I fear, in his hot-headed way, he starts fighting with the Russians, and it wouldn’t be long then until a state of war against Russia is declared. I have no doubt then that our over-financed military ($10 to every 1 Russian dollar) will mean NOTHING against a country that right now believes the US, with the largest buildup of NATO on its borders since Hitler’s World War II, is crazed enough to prepare for a preemptive strike."

Stone also mentioned a number of alternative news sources that are bringing the truth of the situation out to the public rather than what the MSM propaganda has offered. Here is his list of real news sources about the issues with Russia...

Ways to Safeguard Your Online Privacy http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/ways-to-safeguard-your-online-privacy Wed, 04 Jan 2017 07:34:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/ways-to-safeguard-your-online-privacy Here at Free Market Capital, we are big proponents of personal liberty and self determination without the coercive arm of big brother watching your every move.

It was once suspected that our governments were spying on us secretly. With the revelations made by the former NSA contractor Edward Snowden in 2013, we now should all be aware of the fact that the NSA pretty much watches our every move and even shares that information across borders with other countries, and many of them in-turn share their information with the NSA.

If you are not aware of this fact, you need to at least watch the recently released, on DVD, Oliver Stone movie entitled "Snowden". In it, we learned about Edward Snowden and all the things the NSA was doing through programmers like himself in order to spy on ordinary citizens, track their digital records and store them for a time when they might need them.

The government is even in cahoots with large companies like Facebook, Google, Amazon, Apple and Microsoft, where they are sharing your records with the government. They are even able to access the web camera in anyones home to peer inside their house without anyone knowing. Creepy, right?

We believe a man like Edward Snowden to be a modern day hero, yet he is being hunted down for espionage. What did he do exactly? He alerted the people of his country that their own government is spying on them and keeping records of every mouse click, every purchase, every email, every phone call. He just told us the truth.

Another NSA whistleblower and the agencies former Technical Director, William Binney had this to say:

It was around 2003 when they started putting optical fibers coming into the US through Y-connector Narus devices. Basically these would duplicate the data coming across the Internet—one set of packets would go the normal route, the other set would go to NSA facilities.

There, they collect all the data coming in through fiber optics, reassemble all the data packets into useable information– emails, file transfers, etc. and then pass it along for storage.

That means they are taking all that data off the fiber optic lines at 20 main convergence points in the US, collecting almost all of the Internet traffic passing through the US. This gets them pretty much control over the digital world.”

And that was 14 years ago. I'm sure things have improved since then.

Most powerful governments don't want their citizens to know the truth, they want to keep their power and to do that, they generally need to keep people in the dark.

Thomas Jefferson once wrote, "When government fears the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny." Sadly, we have now come to a time where the people are afraid of their government, especially now that they track everything we do.

But I have nothing to hide, why should it matter? Say most ignorant people in the west. If that is the case then free speech is not important either because you have nothing important to say.

The problem is, it creates a power imbalance, where they know everything about you and you know very little about them. Those who have the most power should have the least amount of privacy and the maximum amount of transparency.

When a government doesn't trust its citizens, it spies on them and destroys a free society. We advocate free markets and to have that you have to have a free society, one devoid of tyranny and the prying eyes of the elites in power over us.

We have outlined several ways you can protect your browsing habits, financial records, file sharing, your computer and mobile use and ultimately your communication from the prying eyes of your neighbours, an abusive spouse, an inquisitive boss, hackers and even your own government.

We've only included the ones that would be very easy and simple to use on a daily basis. If it is too complicated, you won't use it for very long. Many of these ideas came from the Godfather himself, Edward Snowden.

Phone & Messaging

Probably the first line of defence for most people would be their phone and instant messaging security. Thankfully enough, this is quite easy to manage.

Open Whisper Systems has developed a free smartphone app called Signal (for iOS and Android). It will prevent anyone who might be listening or tracing your communication to not be able to read or understand it.

Hard Disk

Encrypting all of the files on your hard disk is an important factor in protecting your privacy. Here are a few ways that might help you prevent an adversary from prying into your life more than you would like them to.

BitLocker for Windows is generally the best way to encrypt on a Microsoft Windows device.

The built in FileVault in OSX is actually a very safe tool you can use to encrypt the files on your hard disks.

If you are on Linux, you will need to set your hard disk to encrypt when you install Ubuntu. You can not do it afterwards, sadly.

Password Management

Passwords are difficult because most people use a variation of a single password for most of the websites they connect to in order to remember them. So your Gmail account might be the same password you use to view your bank statements or your Facebook account.

You can use a password manager to ensure every website will have a unique password without you needing to remember a million passwords.

KeyPassX is a great open source tool you can use to do just that. It doesn't store your files in the cloud, but it encrypts them locally on your hard disk. It is also cross platform so it should work on any computer.

Browser

Most modern web browsers are easily traceable. They even store a history of your browsing habits so anyone who has access to your computer can see everything you looked up previously. Thankfully there's Tor Browser. It will prevent you from leaving a trace when you visit any website.

Search Engine

Another useful tool to remain private when you are using a search engine is DuckDuckGo. It claims to be, "the search engine that doesn't track you". It is quite fast and very comparable to Google, other than the fact that it doesn't record your search habits.

Email

Proton Mail is a great service that encrypts all of your incoming and outgoing mail. You can even connect your custom domain to it, so you don't have to change your email account. It's servers are located in Switzerland where privacy is a big concern and protected under Swiss laws.

File Sharing

Dropbox is a wonderful file sharing service that encrypts your files on their servers. The problem is, they hold the decryption keys and can decrypt all of your files whenever they want. Their privacy policy also states they will share your information with the government when they come asking for it.

Don't fret, if you encrypt your files before they make it to Dropbox's servers, you can counteract that. A great way to do this is using AxCrypt, it offers nearly unbreakable file encryption. If any government does retrieve your files from Dropbox, you can rest assured they will only see gibberish.

You simply run your files through AxCrypt before you upload them to DropBox and use AxCrypt to decrypt them as well. It's actually not that difficult.

Financial

Bitcoin, Bitcoin, Bitcoin. We love bitcoin, its the decentralized crypto currency that you should look more into. No prying eyes can track your bitcoin usage except for you. Every Bitcoin transaction is encrypted and secret. it's also a great way to protect your money from the inevitable government instituted inflation of your local fiat currency.

Many alternative financial groups say you should keep 5% of your portfolio in crypto currencies in order to protect your assets from inflation.

It may also be a great way for you to transfer some of your wealth into another currency without having to pay the enormous bank fees. You could simply buy some bitcoins and sell them in another currency. In fact one crypto is setup for that specifically, Ripple. They claim to allow banks to send low cost, real-time payments around the globe instantly. We'll see if it takes off.

We suggest sticking with Bitcoin for now, as it has the best track record so far.

US at war with Iraq, Libya, Syria, Iran, Russia all to Protect the Petrodollar http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/us-at-war-with-iraq-libya-syria-iran-russia-all-to-protect-the-petrodollar Tue, 03 Jan 2017 08:31:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/us-at-war-with-iraq-libya-syria-iran-russia-all-to-protect-the-petrodollar The US dollar currently makes up 2/3rds of the worlds global reserve currency. This is because nearly every oil-exporting country in the world exclusively sells their oil in US dollars (the Petrodollar), so nations are forced to hoard large amounts of US dollars, allowing the US to print it almost to infinity without hyper-inflating their currency.

The US government has been doing everything it can to protect their petrodollar status around the globe. How did this all come about?

The Saudi Connection

In 1974, OPEC nations halted the sale of oil to the United States due to its support for Israel in the Yom Kippur War. This resulted in quadrupling oil prices, almost overnight. Inflation sky rocketed and the stock market crashed causing the US economy to nosedive.

US president Richard Nixon ended up fixing this dilemma by setting up an agreement with Saudi Arabia. The US would buy oil from Saudi Arabia, protect them militarily and even sell them military aid and equipment, helping the military industrial complex in the US. In return, the Saudis would buy billions of dollars worth of US Treasuries to help finance America's spending habits.

History dictates how the US government and their ally's have been protecting the wests financial dominance through this petrodollar ever since.

Iraq and the Euro

In 2001, Iraq switched from the petrodollar and began selling their oil in Euro's. Soon after, sanctions were placed on them followed by an invasion with massive destruction to their infrastructure. The Bush administration galvanized support for the invasion with lies about supposed WMD's that Saddam was going to use on either his own people or Israel.

This came a little more than a decade after the US assisted Saddam with chemical weapons and sophisticated military equipment as well as strategic supports so he could fight Iran.

Libya and the Golden Dinar

In 1996 and 2000 the leader of the oil rich Libya, Muhammar Gaddafi, had initially indicated the idea of a gold backed African currency. He found there to be many African and Muslim nations interested in the idea.

He began amassing large amounts of gold and silver, to the tune of 144 tons of gold and a similar amount of silver. That is half of what the UK possesses in gold, but Libya has 1/10th the population of the UK, so it was quite substantial.

In 2009, Muhammar Gaddafi was the president of the African Union. He proposed the African states shift to a new Golden Dinar that was actually made from physical gold. Many of these interested nations were using the French franc (CFA) circulating as a prime African currency.

A leaked Hillary Clinton email showed this to be a serious issue for the french and how they were worried it would do a tremendous amount of harm to their economy. The US also felt threatened to loose the petrodollar in this oil rich region.

The prospect of sovereign control by a growing number of African and Muslim oil states would have been disastrous for Wall Street and London bankers.

It would have meant huge liquidity in the trillions of dollars they no longer controlled as well as potential hyper inflation for the US dollar who had just quintupled their money supply to pay for 2 major invasions (Iraq and Afghanistan) and to offset their losses from the 2008 recession.

The wealth of these African nations would have depended on how much gold they had, instead of how many US dollars they trade. The great fear was that Libya might lead North Africa into a high degree of economic independence with a new pan-African currency.

Gold would have flowed out from energy hungry customers in the west and into African and Middle Eastern nations. The US and its ally's could not allow that to happen.

Fearing a diminished influence by the western central banks, the French, UK and US then attacked Libya and utterly destroyed their infrastructure leaving them to be ravaged by years of terror from Al-Qaeda and other factions, with the guise of defending the helpless rebels who were opposed to such a brutal dictator.

Iran, Syria and Russia

Two countries have stopped selling their oil in petrodollars, Iran and Syria. Both had major sanctions placed on them with Syria being invaded by outside terrorist organizations supported, funded and trained by the US government.

This not to mention another country slammed with US sanctions, Russia, has begun trading some of its oil for the Russian Ruble instead of the US Petrodollar. Is there a wonder why Obama has been adamant to create a rift between his administration and Putin's?

If you've been following the establishment media reports, you might have thought it was because Obama has a heart for the people of Crimea or because Putin was fighting the terrorists in Syria or the so called "moderate rebels" as they like to call them, a claim proven to be false.

The Petrodollars Demise

If many of these oil countries or even OPEC itself stopped using the petrodollar, no one would need to hoard it anymore. These massive quantities of US dollars would be sent back to the Federal Reserve in exchange for whichever currency replaces it.

The value of the dollar would shrink dramatically and the Fed would be forced to take steps to shrink the money supply to stem massive inflation. The raising of the Federal Funds rate would mean that there would not be enough new loans created to pay off old loans.

This is necessary, because there is always more debt in the economy than there is money, because money is created with interest attached, from the very beginning we are all indebted to a small cartel that sits behind the federal reserve.

The defaulting of loans would lead to a chain reaction that would collapse the $700 Trillion derivatives market. In addition, the Fed wouldn't be able to mindlessly pump money into the economy anymore to fund their welfare/warfare state such as with their current policy of quantitative easing.

Chaos would ensue in American streets as people wouldn't get their much needed food stamps and welfare checks. Occupy Wall Street would be a walk in the park compared to the riots we would see. The US dollar would hyper inflate almost overnight virtually eliminating the savings of millions of people.

Is there any wonder why the US policy makers seems to be in a perpetual war with oil rich nations that go against their plans of world financial dominance? Yet, when their oil rich ally Saudi Arabia beheads its own citizens, en masse, or performs brutal war crimes against its neighbors, like in the recent war with Yemen to oust its leader, no one in the MSM barely notices.

All this using US made warplanes to drop US made bombs on wedding parties and hospitals, they get no mention in the mainstream media or by the US government. I wonder what response they would have if Syria or Iran did the same thing?

There is a way out of this mess, it will be painful, but it will be less painful than the one that will eventually happen as we kick the can down the road with more wars and destruction of lives on the other side of the planet, and quantitative easing here at home.

We will offer the solution to this mess in an upcoming article. Follow us on facebook so you can stay updated on our latest posts and learn how you can protect yourself and your assets from a potential catastrophy.

The Free Market on Jobs and Productivity http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/the-free-market-on-jobs-and-productivity Tue, 03 Jan 2017 03:08:46 +0000 Oliver Goodman http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/the-free-market-on-jobs-and-productivity A Free Market Capitalistic model thrives on the idea that the business will provide a valuable service and will grow and expand through success. Therefore, issues such as minimum wage, health care assurances, and union practices are particularly detrimental to the business as it is forced to play by one-size-fits-all regulations.

Minimum Wage

Minimum wage is a construct that forces businesses to hire as many people as they can for a wage that may be unnecessary for the job in which the employee is working. As a result of this, the business is unable to afford to hire as many employees as it may deem necessary because the government requires that all employees are paid at a determined minimum wage.

Therefore, the business may not be able to stay afloat due to staffing needs and workers who would be willing to work for less money and gain valuable on-the-job experience are denied the opportunity to work. By creating a minimum wage the government is telling the employer that regardless of productivity the employee must be paid a set salary.

While there is potential for termination, there is no room for lowering ones pay depending on where they begin (this makes reprimand less likely and only guarantees a base level of productivity for certain positions).

Read our full article on how damaging minimum wage is to the poor.

Health Care Assurances

Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) passed by President Obama any employee who works 30 hours a week or 130 hours a month is considered a full time employee (along with a few other technicalities) and must be offered health care coverage from their employer. While this sounds fair, the harsh reality is that businesses are cutting peoples hours or not hiring full time employees so that offering health care can be avoided.

So while around twenty million Americans have gained coverage following the passing of the ACA this has been at the expense of typically low wage hourly employees who are losing hours of work due to employers looking to avoid offering coverage.

In fact, it has been suggested that a portion of the decrease in unemployment is due to the fact that employers are hiring two (in certain cases) part time employees instead of one full time employee. So, without this particular government regulation there would potentially be less jobs but there would be far more real jobs.

Union Assurances

Unfortunately many Americans are faced with the issue of having to decide between having a job at a particular business and whether or not they want to be part of the union that is associated with that business.

Unions, under American Labor Laws, are not necessarily forcing employees to work for the union in “Right to Work States” meaning that union dues are not necessary to be paid to receive the benefits of the union. This is more of a moral dilemma than economic.

However, in cases where unions are considered “forced association” the entity of a union will strangle the market for several reasons. For starters, unions tend to be rather large entities and are capable of being selective for workers meaning that non-union jobs can be very hard to come through in certain industries.

Unions can be popular because of the benefits that are offered by the union, particularly the overtime benefits. In many, union type professions the margin for overtime profit is tremendous and work may be incited by union employees to be performed at a slower rate so that more money is accrued per paycheck.

In Short

The result of these examples is rather clear that when more regulations are placed on a business, it gives the business less opportunity to grow. While having jobs is important for an economy, there is a clear distinction between a large workforce and productive work force. That being said quality over quantity is true in this scenario and the only way to assure that is less government intrusion.

2017 May be the year of Bitcoin http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/2017-may-be-the-year-of-bitcoin Mon, 02 Jan 2017 23:38:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/2017-may-be-the-year-of-bitcoin On new years day of 2017, Bitcoin broke the psychologically important $1000 US barrier. The expectation is that it will keep rising.

Since the start of 2016, Bitcoin's price has increased more than 120%. Chinese purchasing volume of Bitcoins recently hit record highs in December, assisting in the surprise growth of the crypto currency.

Bitcoin has been on an amazing run over the last couple of years. Two years ago, Bitcoin was priced at $200. A year ago it was $400, 6 months ago it was at $600 and one month ago it was priced at $800.

Many in the establishment media claim the rise is due to speculation and is expecting a near term pullback, however, some see it replacing gold as the new safe haven.

On December 28, CNBC's Closing Bell analysts were questioning its interest as a way to protect one's portfolio from economic uncertainty even wondering, "Is Bitcoin the new gold?"

While the decentralized bitcoin continues to deflate bringing financial rewards to those who hold Bitcoin, the American dollar (and every fiat currency controlled by central banks) have been on a crash course with disaster.

Money printing by central banks to pay for the endless welfare/warfare state has devalued fiat currencies like the US dollar, reducing their purchasing power by around 95%.

When the US wants to go into another war, it doesn't ask its citizens to pay for it directly. It secretly has them pay for it by devaluing their currency in the form of asking the bankers to print more money and giving them a big fat IOU. The same is true for when socialists introduce a new welfare program everyone ends up paying for it, including the poor.

The effect being, your savings now won't buy what it used to. This harms everyone especially those in retirement and out of the workforce.

A good indicator of how bad inflation is and the effects poor government management of the economy is, look at something that reflects on the cost of living like the minimum wage (which we strongly oppose in the first place).

In the United States, minimum wage first became law in 1938 at 25 cents. In 1950 it was $0.75, In 1968 it was $1.60, in 1981 it was $3.35. At the turn of the century it was $5.15. Obama raised it to $7.25 in 2009 but the current cry is to make it $15 in many places.

Why has it risen so much? Because the cost of living has increased so much, mostly due to inflation; AKA: your government is printing more and more of it to pay for their welfare/warfare state.

Since no government can print bitcoins, its value has only gone up. As governments confiscate their own fiat currencies like we are seeing in India and Venezuela, Bitcoin is sure to rise even more.

Minimum Wage Hikes will Only Hurt the Poor in 2017 http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/minimum-wage-hikes-will-only-hurt-the-poor-in-2017 Sun, 01 Jan 2017 19:28:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2017/minimum-wage-hikes-will-only-hurt-the-poor-in-2017 One thing this new year brings with it will be higher salaries for unskilled workers... well, either that or less jobs for them, higher expenses for them and everyone else, longer wait times to get service and many businesses with either be forced to automate their low skill jobs or will just shut down completely.

There is a real concerted effort by many trade unions and do gooders to set the minimum wage to $15/hr. 19 US states, dozens of cities and counties are raising their minimum wage in 2017. Many Canadian provinces and European countries are doing the same.

The problem is a $15 minimum wage law does not force employers to pay every worker at least $15/hr. It only forces them to pay $15/hr to every worker they choose to keep. The ones they decide not to keep will soon be earning $0/hr. Thanks government.

In this modern political era we find many well intentioned but economically ignorant politicians pushing the ideas of raising the minimum wage. Many of them simply want to attract voters from the increasing number of poor people we have among us. Others really do believe doing so will help more people out in the long run.

This ideology could not be further from the truth. The well known Nobel Prize winning economist Milton Friedman taught extensively about the issues surrounding the minimum wage.

He emphasized how its the unholy alliance of the trade unions and the do gooders that are always wanting to increase the minimum wage and how the minimum wage increase "is ensuring that people who cannot justify that kind of a wage will be unemployed".

The teenage unemployment rate only increased to the levels we see today when the minimum wage rates were drastically increased by government mandates. One quarter of workers between ages 18 and 24 are unemployed and not getting valuable on the job training as a result. A lot of the blame for that should be directed toward government mandated minimum wages.

Extreme Measures

With any political view, the simplest way to find out the cause and effect of such policy is to push the policy to the extreme. Currently the push is to have minimum wage be at 15/hr. Well, what would happen if they changed it to $50/hr?

Businesses would have to raise prices on almost everything they produce, increasing the cost of living for all of their customers. They would have to let many of their workers go as it will now cost them a lot more money to operate their businesses. Small business owners would have less employees and would have to put more time in themselves, which generally small business owners do not have that luxury.

Another side effect is jurisdictions with high minimum wages will become less competitive with those areas that have lower minimum wages. If California's minimum wage was $50/hr and Oregon's was $10/hr. The cost of living in Oregon would be a lot more desirable, opening a business in Oregon would be more desirable and as a result their would be plenty more jobs to be had there.

If an employer only has $100 to offer for salaries and the minimum wage increases from $10/hr to $15/hr. He used to be able to hire 10 workers. He now can only hire 6.5 workers. At least 3 workers will now be out of a job. Not to mention the loss of experience and job training they will loose.

If you want extreme socialism, why not move to the socialist utopia of Venezuela. I would advise against it though. It does show you what is happening to the rest of the western world, only at a slower pace.

What about Switzerland?

In Switzerland, wage laws do not dictate a mandatory minimum wage like it does in the rest of Europe and North America. They believe the free market is the solution allowing wage rates to be determined between employee and employer. A minimum wage of $0 and yet they still have one of the best places to live.

In 2011 Switzerland boasted one of the highest median household incomes in the world at $33,669, according to OECD statistics, second only to Luxembourg and Norway.

But wouldn't they have slavery or close to slavery if the minimum wage is set at $0? Not in a voluntary society where two parties agree on the acceptable rate determined based on the skill and experience of the laborer and the income they will generate the business. All this without the coercive hand of the government.

What's the solution?

Something we keep harping on at Free Market Capital is that governments do not fix problems, they create them and this is no exception.

Is it time we scrapped the minimum wage in favor of letting the free market setting it for us? We at Free Market Capital believe it's time.

2017 Could Make Tesla & Elon Musk Bigger than Ever http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2016/2017-could-make-teslas-elon-musk-a-giant Sun, 01 Jan 2017 05:33:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2016/2017-could-make-teslas-elon-musk-a-giant We love hearing about private industry successes, especially those from tech companies. One of the big players of the entrepreneurial tech world is Elon Musk who has some exciting times ahead for the new year. Musk who claims to be socially liberal and fiscally conservative seems to have a vast understanding of technology and business.

A Storied Life

Elon MuskBorn in South Africa to a local Electromechanical Engineer father and a model/dietician mother from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. He was interested in programming when he was a young boy and even sold a Basic-based computer game that he made when he was only 12 years old.

He became a Canadian citizen and went to Queens University in Ontario and later transferred to the University of Pennsylvania. When he was 24 he moved to California to start a PhD in applied physics and materials science at Stanford University but his entrepreneurial spirit got the best of him when he quit the program after only 2 days.

Zip2 was Musk's first success as he turned a $28K loan from his father into a $22 million sale only a few years after starting the company. He used almost half of the money from that sale to start X.com an online financial services company.

A year later X.com merged with Confinity which had a money transfer service called PayPal. They soon renamed the company PayPal which sold to Ebay only 3 years later for $1.5 billion, of which Musk received US$165 million.

Soon afterward, in 2001 Musk started a space exploration company called SpaceX with a desire to send miniature greenhouses to Mars in hopes to one day colonize the red planet. He initially planned to buy refurbished ICBM's from Russia but when the price tag was too high, he decided to make them himself by starting SpaceX using $100 million from his PayPal sale.

SpaceX has gone on to achieve greatness in the world of private space technology. In December of 2015, they successfully landed the first stage of the Falcon rocket back on its launch pad after it delivered its payload into Earths orbit and even on a drone ship in the ocean. He recently announced his plans to colonize Mars and the technology needed to do so.

If that wasn't enough, in 2004, he helped fund a new electric vehicle company called Tesla Motors where he became the chairman to the board of directors and eventual CEO. He took an active role in the company overseeing production of its vehicles.

The vehicles have been a huge success around the world. He even had Tesla charging stations installed all over the western world in order to increase the range of his vehicles. You can drive a Tesla vehicle across North America.

2017 and Beyond

2017 should be an exciting year for Elon Musk. He will be a tech and business advisor to President Donald Trump. He will be launching a new solar panel shingle technology that he claims will power your home and your car and be comparably priced to traditional roofs.

Tesla Motors will be launching a new affordable electric vehicle for the masses in the sub $30k range, called the Model 3. This could be the beginning of the end for traditional gas powered vehicles since he will now be competing with lower end consumers.

Musk plans on sending an autonomous Tesla vehicle from Los Angeles to New York by the end of 2017. Other companies tried similar feats like Delphi's cross country road trip. Unlike Delphi, who stuck mostly to highways, an easy feat for modern autonomous vehicles, Musk's plan is for the vehicles to travel from door to door dropping its passengers off in the middle of Times Square before parking itself.

This achievement will be sure to make headlines and likely help sell a lot more Tesla's. Their tech savvy consumer base will be sure to enjoy the ride as will we.

Though we at Free Market Capitalism do not agree with any form of taxation, Musk appears to have a bias towards carbon taxation. However, Musk argues that the free market would achieve the "best solution" instead of government subsidies, and that producing environmentally unfriendly vehicles should come with its own consequences.

He sees the value of the free market and how the government is not a good selector of success and we can fully back him there. We wish Elon Musk, Tesla Motors and SpaceX much success in 2017.

Obama Becoming Insignificant as Trump Gets the Nod for Syrian Peace Talks http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2016/obama-becoming-insignificant-as-trump-gets-the-nod-for-syrian-peace-talks Sat, 31 Dec 2016 23:29:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2016/obama-becoming-insignificant-as-trump-gets-the-nod-for-syrian-peace-talks As President Obama's reign over American politics comes to an end, he seems determined to make as big of a mess for the incoming Donald Trump as he can. Placing the blame for the loss of the election on Russian hackers and engaging in sanction warfare by expelling 35 Russian diplomats from their American retreats. One of which is a Chef.

Putin not taking the bait with any retaliation of his own but offering a priceless Twitter meme instead, which seems to imply Obama has become an insignificant player in world events.

With Obama playing politics in the US, the rest of the world eyes the Syrian peace talks underway, without US government interference. Russia, Turkey and Iran have negotiated holding peace talks to resolve the chaos in Syria.

Russia's foreign minister (Sergey Lavrov) announced who he wants to see at the peace talks which includes: Egypt, Iraq, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and a UN Committee. No mention of the US... except, Lavrov did mention, "when Donald Trump comes into office, I wold like the US to join these efforts".

Has the US lost its clout as the world leader it once was or does no one really care about a lame duck president?

We at Free Market Capitalism are hoping for peace, in that these foreign governments stop arming the foreign terrorist groups inside Syria so the rebuilding can begin and the Syrian people can decide their own fate. We are also hoping to see the millions of Syrian refugees finally go home.

US Sanctions Russia, Putins Response, A Lame Duck Meme for Obama http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2016/us-sanctions-russia-putins-response-a-lame-duck-meme-for-obama Sat, 31 Dec 2016 19:26:00 +0000 Oliver Goodman http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2016/us-sanctions-russia-putins-response-a-lame-duck-meme-for-obama Many supporters of Hilary Clinton, have been very quick to blame Russia for rigging election results in favor of Donald Trump; declaring that the election should not count in light of these recent events.

The mainstream media has accepted the CIA's statement saying, “Yes, Russian hackers affected the results of the election in favor of Donald Trump”, yet ignoring the claim made by Wikileaks that this was a leak from a DNC staffer and not the Russians who gave them the information.

Claiming the results are of Russian doing is merely speculation rather than fact.

Several news stations and websites have projected the idea that the leak is factual and without Russia, President Elect Trump would not have been elected.

Some have been quick to point out how this is merely defence for Hilary Clinton and the Democratic Party as a way to distract from the fact that even though her campaign spent twice that of Donald Trump, she still lost the election.

Ben Swann from CBS 46 and others, including us at Free Market Capitalism have made it clear the nature of the claims are extremely shady and should be analyzed further before the establishment media should accept it as truth.

On top of being slammed constantly for the private email server and Benghazi scandal, Clintons campaign was marred after the loss for failing despite having nearly all of the mainstream media on her side.

On top of that, Clinton spent $1.1 billion on her campaign whereas Donald Trump was able to win with having spent only about $512 million; this raises questions on the side of why was that much money necessary to have lost in such a crushing electoral college defeat to Trump.

As far as the sanctions go, many people feel that Obama acted incorrectly by expelling the Russian diplomats. 35 Russian diplomats are being expelled from the United States and the closing of two estates in New York and Maryland that were reportedly used as Russian intelligence centers.

Russian officials say these were used as retreats for Russian diplomats. One wonders, if the Obama administration knew these buildings were being used for spying, why are they only being shut down now?

Putin released a statement that expressed his disappointment in the sanctions made by the Obama administration. In the statement, Putin describes the sanctions as being “provocative and aimed at further weakening the Russia-US relationship.”

Putin then went on to say that while Russia could respond similarly, no United States diplomats will be deported and they will not face any harassment or unwanted attention from Russian officials.

Putin then went as far as to wish current president Obama and President Elect Trump positive holiday wishes. This all comes right after Putin and Trump expressed interest in strengthening relations between the two nations.

It is hoped that this will be the height of President Obama’s controversial actions during his lame duck stage a president (the stage of his term something that the UK Russian Embassy referenced in a tweet regarding the sanctions recently through a meme) and that the United States and Russia will be able to improve relations as hoped, putting an end to these Cold War style actions.

An Act of War on Both Sides of the Russian Hacking Scandal http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2016/an-act-of-war-on-both-sides-of-the-russian-hacking-scandal Sat, 31 Dec 2016 18:46:00 +0000 Oliver Goodman http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2016/an-act-of-war-on-both-sides-of-the-russian-hacking-scandal Arizona Senator, John McCain, has continued to express his disinterest on lowering the hype over the Russian hackings that allegedly took place, interfering with presidential election results. A recent appearance on Ukrainian television saw McCain  sabre rattling when he said, “when you attack a country, its an act of war.”

While there is less than a month before President Elect Donald Trump is to take office on January 20th, Trump has already made his position on the issue clear; Trump has been more inclined to side with the FBI director who does not support the CIA's claims of Russian involvement in the leak. Trump wants to move on from the investigation and try to improve relations with Russia and Russian President, Vladimir Putin.

McCain however promises that he and other officials in Washington are going to be making more serious sanctions against the Russian cyber-hackers following a hearing that McCain has called to specifically deal with foreign cyber hacking threats.

McCain has said that the sanctions on Russia that President Obama imposed are insufficient and not severe enough. McCain has promised that he will be working to impose further sanctions that are more severe, yet undisclosed on exactly what they would end up being.

This is all coming about three years after the beginning cyber attacks from individuals related to the Chinese government. Attacks began in the winter of 2013, targeting information about U.S. policy makers and information about United States industrial technology.

While the cyber espionage has more or less continued since then, there still has not been any noteworthy retaliation from the Obama administration to the Chinese over the attacks. Many consider the retaliation has been made due to the fact that the attacks have been leaked to the Chinese military rather than just the government; which would make retaliation a more hostile encounter.

Interestingly enough, while these Chinese attacks were unofficially dubbed as ‘acts of war’ like the Russian hacks, that labeling may just be a way to get people excited rather than an actual definition.

In fact, as of right now there is no exact definition of when a cyber attack would be considered an act of war. According to Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense and Global Security Thomas Atkin the homeland security does not have an exact stance on when a cyber attack would be considered an act of war.

While there is an obvious scenario of if a cyber attack lead to the United States bombing itself or the United States power grid were to be shut down then yes that would likely be an act of war, there still has not been an official line drawn in the sand as to when the war begins.

So for now, Senator McCain can call the cyber attack an act of war all he wants but, in reality, our Homeland Defense has deemed it is not that at all. What we do know is former congressman Ron Paul repeatedly warning the American public that sanctions placed on another country, in itself is an act of war.

Thankfully enough, Putin hasn't taken the bait and has not retaliated to the new sanctions. Here's to hoping Trump and Putin can deescalate the situation in 2017.

Many parents are outraged as videos emerge showing their children in Zwolle, Netherlands being taught how to perform muslim prayers.

The video shows the children separated by gender with the Imam of the mosque teaching the children how Muslims pray and saying "Allahu Akbar", meaning "Allah is Great". The instructions were to put their "elbows on the ground" and "put your hands close to your ears".

Even though this has been going on for several years now, calls for a change in the curriculum have been reported after many Christian parents complained about their children being taught to pray to Allah.

Donald Trump doesn’t trust the CIA, neither should you! http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2016/donald-trump-doesnt-trust-the-cia-maybe-we-shouldnt-either Sat, 31 Dec 2016 10:52:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2016/donald-trump-doesnt-trust-the-cia-maybe-we-shouldnt-either The establishment media is up in arms about President elect Donald Trumps refusal to accept at face value the CIA’s claims that Russia hacked the DNC. They can’t believe a president would second guess his own intelligence reports, calling it “unprecedented”.

This is the same CIA that led America into a war with Iraq over supposed WMDs, failed in a coupe attempt on Fidel Castro during the Bay of Pigs disaster, their director was convicted of lying to congress about the CIA’s role in overthrowing the democratically elected leader of Chile in 1973, lied to the public about torturing captured enemies and also lied about their illegal mass spying on the American public.

So why should we question them now about Russia helping the non-establishment candidate win the American election?

The CIAs track record is quite spotty at best. The current claim is that Russia hacked the DNC, and in doing so, they influenced the American public to elect Donald Trump instead of Hillary Clinton who outspent Trump 2 to 1. In other words, they are upset that Russia apparently helped to reveal the truth to the American people about Hillary Clinton.

Even though the FBI does not agree with the CIA claims about Russian involvement in hacking the DNC’s computers, President Obama has now sanctioned Russia and ejected 35 suspected Russian intelligence operatives from the United States.

Wikileaks has even come on record explaining the information they received about the DNC came directly from a DNC staffer and it was not from a hacked source. The staffer simply copied the files onto a flash drive and handed it to Wikileaks workers. Not to mention, Wikileaks track record is far better than the CIA’s. To date, none of Wikileaks claims have been proven false.

As the cold war drums beat faster, the CIA now claim Russian hackers have planted software on computers inside a power grid station in Vermont. The CIA connects this piece of software with hackers associated with the Russian government. We aren’t sure why they claim it, but that’s what they tell us.

Harry Truman, the only president to ever drop nuclear weapons on civilians, was the president that started the CIA in the aftermath of WWII. He wrote in the Washington Post, 1 month after President Kennedy was assassinated, warning people the CIA was getting out of control. In it he wrote, “I think it has become necessary to take another look at the purpose and operations of our Central Intelligence Agency.”

Those concerns fell on deaf ears as the CIA has only grown larger.

It does make you wonder if we should also question them on the CIA’s role in Syria and what’s really going on in that country.

For more about the CIA's past blunders and why you shouldn't "take their word for it", watch this video.

What’s America Facing in 2017? http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2016/whats-facing-america-this-2017 Sat, 31 Dec 2016 05:37:00 +0000 Jalieh Rod http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2016/whats-facing-america-this-2017 America. A wealthy nation, full of opportunities that has given the chance to more than one person to succeed.

A chance to flourish yearned for many nations, but earned here, in the star-spangled banner land. Earned with hard work, insured by the freedom guaranteed by the institutionalism of a strong federation.

However, is this system still existing in America nowadays the way it used to, some generations ago?

Is the United States of America still attempting to be the free nation that was meant to be since its birth?

Huge changes in the idiosyncrasy of the US society are happening right now.

Donald Trump, gay rights, national debt, immigrant’s policies, public health, environment care, etc.

All of these topics surround the context of the Americans daily, in a way that affects their priorities, and how they handle and create their own ideas.

This is a tunnel, a big change suffered by a nation, under the pressure of information, opinion, but needed of a logic and well-built arguments to debate.

2017 is a year that promises to be remembered throughout history as the opening time of a convulsed era.

These are some of the things that the USA is to face this “happy” new year:

  • Unprecedented Crisis: If Federal Reserve, failed anti-drugs policies, middle-east intervention, Obamacare, and state-coming help for banks about to bankrupt issues are not solved, the National Debt will destroy dollar's strength, bringing with itself an unprecedented crisis greater than the one of 2008, or even greater than the Great Depression, occurred in the XX century.

  • Socialism: It is crucial for the American society to go back to the culture of freedom, and hard work, that raised this nation to what it is today. Forgetting about excuses brought trough hate ideas, always remembering that the power to achieve one’s aspirations is always in our own hands. Remembering that the State is an institution the same height of any citizen, who does not give any privilege and who does not control anyone’s life, but who instead assurances that justice is applied correctly. If this is not handled with the importance it deserves, it might shatter into a lot of pieces of frustration, failed revolutions and poverty.

  • Immigrant Revolution: Although it might sound a little yellowish, you will have to stop blinking to follow the steps that will take us to the new immigrant’s policies, which will be applied this new year. We have some clues of what’s in Trump’s mind about the changes coming for VISAS and deportations, but it’s always good to never take anything for granted until it finally happens. Whether if you are Latin or Muslim, hate is going to be trendy thanks to the airs of superiority sown during Trump's campaign, and scenarios already seen decades ago will come back to life with a new wave of xenophobes crimes in the front pages of the newspapers.
Immigrants are to the expectation, waiting anxiously to know what does the destiny hold for them.

Meanwhile, we still in a world which seems to be falling once again into the depths of ignorance, but hopefully trusting in the power of information to overcome this dark side of the story arising to be beaten... And so.

Bamboo Bikes Built in Ghana http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2016/bamboo-bikes-built-in-ghana Thu, 29 Dec 2016 17:00:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2016/bamboo-bikes-built-in-ghana People say the free market promotes selfishness and we need the govt to regulate everything so people don't take advantage of others.

In a true free market we find the opposite. Out of peoples ingenuity, creativity and passions we find people helping other people, un-coerced but driven by their passions and ultimately a potential for profit. Which is a good thing as it helps those around us.

Socialism is not helping people, it's forcing people to do something that others might think is a good thing to do.

Meet the Ghanaian entrepreneur who is building bikes out of bamboo. This entrepreneur exemplifies Free Market Capitalism working as it should and enriching the lives of multiples of people.

Obama's Presidential Pardons Pass a Milestone http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2016/obamas-presidential-pardons-pass-a-milestone Tue, 27 Dec 2016 16:30:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2016/obamas-presidential-pardons-pass-a-milestone Presidential pardons are on the rise as criminal justice warriors pressure Obama to use his clemency ability before he leaves office.

On Monday, President Obama granted clemency to 231 inmates, this being the most by any president in U.S. history.

Obama has doubled the number of people he has pardoned, according to the White House, a number that is now at 148. He has commuted the sentences of 1,176 which includes 395 people serving life sentences.

Sounding pontifical like, White House counsel Neil Eggleston said, “Today’s acts of clemency — and the mercy he has shown his 1,324 clemency recipients — exemplify his belief that America is a nation of second chances”.

15774848_245851615827684_462100635924651735_o.png#asset:58

Most of these pardons have been used for non violent drug offenders serving lengthy sentences, something created out of the failed war on drugs which led the US to have the largest incarceration rate in the world.

The American prison system helps to increase the national debt with an expense of over $74 billion every year, a figure that eclipses the GDP of 133 nations.

In a truly free market system, non violent acts would not be criminalized. Only acts that harm another person or their property would be an issue.

It has taken in millions of dollars from foreign investors only to give taxpayer funds back to those groups to reward them for their support.

With lobbyists knocking at Justin Trudeau's door on a regular basis, the Trudeau Foundation has been taking in 11x what it took in before he became Prime Minister of Canada.

Trudeau has been generous with tax payer money, giving away over $6 billion to foreign nations, while at the same time increasing the national deficit at home.

It appears he's only planning to run one term since he doesn't seem to care about his public perception. Perhaps the Prime Minister misses being a snowboard instructor or a drama teacher. We're not sure.

The Truce that Defied Orders http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2016/the-truce-that-defied-orders Mon, 26 Dec 2016 05:00:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2016/the-truce-that-defied-orders The Christmas truce is one of our favorite stories of Christmas.

"But without the state we would have bloodshed and chaos." This real historic event gives us a different view of reality, that humanity strives to get along with one another even when the state tells us to hate each other.

The Christmas truce was a series of widespread (but unofficial) ceasefires along the Western Front of World War I around Christmas 1914.

Kevin O'Leary wants the Canadian PM Ticket http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2016/kevin-oleary-wants-the-pm-ticket Sun, 25 Dec 2016 08:00:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2016/kevin-oleary-wants-the-pm-ticket Shark Tank and Dragons Den host, Kevin O'Leary, wants to be PM of Canada. He's announced he is interested in being the Conservative Party of Canada's new leader.

This would be a huge improvement from the spendthrift pretty boy, Justin Trudeau who is an expert at spending other peoples money and is introducing North Americas first carbon tax.

The outspoken Kevin O'Leary holds many free market capitalistic views. He's a businessman himself, so he knows all about what taxation and regulations do to businesses and how it restricts growth.

Is Kevin O'Leary going to be Canada's Donald Trump? He will certainly be a divisive candidate and will make the PM debates less of a bore.

Multiple UN Workers: Syria is not what they say it is http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2016/un-workers-syria-is-not-what-they-say-it-is Sun, 25 Dec 2016 07:30:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2016/un-workers-syria-is-not-what-they-say-it-is Powerful message from UN workers... "Syria is not in civil war but is being attacked by outside forces funded by Saudi Arabia, Qatar, USA, Isreal".

This is contrary to what the MSM and western govt's are telling their people. This United Nations worker lays out the facts, telling journalists the Syrian refugees all back the Syrian President and the ones attacking them are foreign fighters supported by outside governments.

Will anyone listen?

Brexit a Success, Frexit up Next! http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2016/brexit-a-success-frexit-up-next Sat, 24 Dec 2016 22:30:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2016/brexit-a-success-frexit-up-next Le Pen making waves in France, promises FREXIT from EU & NATO.

The French presidential candidate declared Nato is being used "to serve Washington’s objectives" and wants the public to be able to "vote for the liberation from slavery and blackmail imposed by technocrats in Brussels to return sovereignty to the country".

She doesn't believe NATO is necessary anymore and would rather be friends with Russia than enemies. Similar notions about Russia were made by Donald Trump on the campaign trail.

Right leaning Marine Le Pen is hoping to win the French Presidential election in May. We wish her well.

Portland City Councillors Averse to Profit Taker CEOs http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2016/portland-city-councillors-averse-to-profit-taker-ceos Sat, 24 Dec 2016 22:00:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2016/portland-city-councillors-averse-to-profit-taker-ceos Portland CEO's now get taxed an extra 10% because they are getting paid too much.

In a sure fire way to decrease tax revenue because Portland city councillors don't know how the free market economy works. They were aghast that CEO's could be paid so much.

A lot of blame is directed toward CEO's these days. The way we see it is, as long as the company is not receiving and unfair govt subsidies, we're happy they are being as profitable as they are.

Let the free market decide if the CEO needs a pay cut. Regulations like these will inevitably lower tax revenues and available jobs in that city.

Montreal Banning New Restaurants http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2016/montreal-banning-new-restaurants Sat, 24 Dec 2016 21:45:00 +0000 Shane Hodgins http://www.freemarketcapitalism.com/index.php?p=news/2016/montreal-banning-new-restaurants Montreal politicians protecting existing restaurants by banning new ones.

So much for the free market deciding which restaurants should be in Montreal. Local politicians find it worrying that Montreal has the second highest restaurants per capita in North America, behind New York City.

Their solution, prevent new restaurants from starting up. Regulations like these generally do not help consumers and prevent the free market from deciding the winners and losers.

Consumers want more choices and more competition ensuring prices are low and service is top notch.

“I don’t believe in the free market anymore,” Ferreira (owner of a well established restaurant) said. “We have to protect the good restaurants.”

It's clear people like this are afraid of competition putting a dent in their profits so they use the power of the law to ensure they never have to innovate or adjust to changing demands of consumers.

You better hope this doesn't happen in your city!
